Hab's 3.5 Belly Cracks

9 posts in this topic

Got a couple 3.5s in very good condition except for some 1" long belly cracks. Odd- they aren't in a straight line.

Not sure if they are just in the paint or go deeper.

Anyone know anything about this issue?

Thanks,

Jon

True.

View PostI've seen that same or similar issue in bm, mac, afterhours, rm smith, .....the list goes on. Plugs have imperfections sometimes.

Most likely the wood was not soaked long enough before sanding and painting. Somtimes paint will not adhere to raised grains in the wood. Not good for a collectors plug, but for plugs that catch like those Jon..it just adds character. Fish them with pride.

Epoxy cracks only Jon, wont affect the plug. Wood swells naturally and some epoxys dont expand and contract well, causes cracks and peels sometimes. Its a Habs though so I doubt the woodwill ever split.
