Beachmaster "Junior" Weight Question

Rate this topic

16 posts in this topic

I really want to fish a Beachmaster "Junior" this season but until this point I have been unable to purchase one for a somewhat reasonable price ( the Ebay/BST prices are way out of my league). I am therefore attempting to do the next best thing and build my own copy. I've been pretty successful in cutting a good form out of red cedar but I can't fgure out the weighting of this plug. My questions are the following: How much weight is placed in the tail of a BM Junior? and How much weight is placed in the belly of this plug? Thanks in advance for any and all assistance.

I have been building jrs as well and trying different weigths and placements. I have tried chin weights and slugs in the tail as opposed to directly behind the belly grommet. They all have different action and honestly I like em all for different applications. The chin weight gave a deeper dive and tighter wiggle. The tail weighted jrs rode higher and gave a much bigger wake on the surface.
