Does anyone know the weights of these heads from 10 to 12 in floating to sink 7? I looked on the airflo site and can't find it. Rajeff sports as well.

Thanks if you have any idea of where I can find it.

I think the 12wt is 430gr...not sure about the 10wt(320-330gr)...grain weight stays the same from floating to sinking. If you email tim at rajeff sports he can tell you exactly what they are.

Chigger in the New (Jan/Feb) edition of Flyfishing in Salt Waters Nick Curcione has a Casting article called Making Headway on pg. 50.

There is a chart that outlines the correct Grain weight for Rods from 7 thru 14

Line Wt Grain Wt

7250-275

8300-325

9350-375

10 400-425

11 450-475

12 500-525

13 550-575

14 600-625

It's an interesting article and anyone using or planning to use shooting heads will benefit from reading it.

On a side note here...if you are thinking of using shooting heads I would go with the RIO 30'...they have a nice taper and I trust their welded loops...make sure if you purchase these you ask what gr. they are...RIO just recently went back to a "standard"(ei. 10wt. = 300gr) rating system...instead of the "2x over standard"(ei. 10wt. = 400gr)...and as RJ pointed out you usually want to over line by 2 line wts. for fast action rods.
