Shimano graphite spools

Rate this topic

2 posts in this topic

Just picked up some Shimano spinners that came with spare spools made of graphite rather than the aluminum spools that come

on the reels.

We'll be using both mono and PowerPro.

Has anyone noticed any difference in the performance of the graphite as opposed to the aluminum?

We'd hoped to load one with mono and the other with braid in order to have either available.

Thanks

Capt Dave, greetings and welcome smile.gif

The spool itself isn't that great of a concern, but what's the spool lip made of? The part that the line comes in contact when casting. If that's graphite (plastic) then it would have an affect on casting, more so with mono than a slick braid. Also, if the lip is graphite (plastic) it'll be more likely to get nicked or dinged...then it will really have an affect on your casting.

If the graphite spool has an aluminum lip, no worries, just pretend it's aluminum, too smile.gif
