Why not do a recruitment plan for stripers?

Like the stocking they do for salmon. Strip a group of breeders and grow the fry to 3-4 inches and put them back in the river. This should give recruitment numbers a shot in the arm without too much expense. Is this done anywhere already?

Rich, I dunno what's currently done, but I did catch a tagged striper one time (which I releasedwink.gif) that was stocked in the Choptank River at 8" long. I caught it 5-6 years later at around 28" long. So someone used to stock 'em!

If any such thing was undertaken Rich, it still would not help with the killing that's going on. The fish aren't killed that young, they make it outta the Chesapeak in acceptible numbers..it's once they are outside and reach 24" that they are hammered.

Too many people killing too many stripers. Being that there won't be any fewer people fishing, that means we either need to kill less stripers or continue the current panfish trend frown.gif
