3/30/07 Kings over Queens Flounder report, take II

Left my seminar in AC at noon and bolted north, picked up the boat at the mechanic, put in some fuel and was at the launch just before 2 to meet Vinny and Suntzu. Splash, run down the river and had pots and hooks in the water at around 2:30.

We could have easily broken the boat record had we tried. 62 to 64 fish came over the rail in under 3 hours of fishing, and we missed the best tide. I sat out at least a half hour with technical difficulties and to grab lunch and Suntzu wasn't even trying. Vinny always brings good eats and has graduated to the B+ team. If he was allowed to fish more he'd make the A team, but he's got a pretty tight leash.

Water was 52 degrees, sunny with an incoming tide. Mussels and worms.

Was that the golden days of winter flatties?

I was very pleased on a sea bass trip last fall just fishing clams on hi lo rigs and got a few really nice fat flounder.

I got a couple cod in RI in November and those Flounder in October as the best table fish of 2020.

Stop bringing up dead posts, especially about a dead fishery.

Oh dear. Is this any way to welcome back a founder of this forum?

That was a fun day, I remember vividly.  We were pretty hard core back in the day.  Damn shame there is no point in fishing for flounder anymore.  I'm looking at the river right now reminiscing.
