as i'm settin up for the year notice the guide at the tip of my rod is missing the "insert" I know I'm using wrong lingo. but that thingy that goes inside the guide to guide the line.

I tried a search but as my vocabulary was weak, no luck.

Are they easy to repalce, can i do it myself and where would I find the parts.

Thanks

Welcome to the site. I know what you are talking about, but don't know how to just replace the ceramic insert. I think you're going to need to replace the entire guide, which isn't a big job at all. Most tackle shops will do this repair cheaply, and you can buy the replacement guides and do it your self faily easily.

You also might want to post this in the rod builder forum as those guys build and repair rods all the time.

The secret method is ferrule cement and a cigarette lighter. sometimes the ceramic rings can be pressed in again (super glue might help..watch your fingers) but the fix is usually only temporary

No point in jury rigging a $5 fix that could cost you a fishing trip.

Forget the insert, always replace the entire tip

For that matter get an extra tip, a lighter and a stick of ferrule cement and keep it in you car. Doing that has saved me a lot of aggravation more then once.

What Sudsy sayssmile.gif

Melt the ferrule cement smear some on rod tip and put on tip. This will set up in a minute or so.

To remove old tip heat with lighter and pull off. Tip may be hotwink.gif
