Puerto Morelos, Cancun

Heading down to the "Riviera Maya" area, just south of Cancun at the end of March. Like my last trip, I'm the only one in my extended family that likes to fish, which makes it hard to justify hiring a 3-4 passenger panga. So again, looks like I will hit the surf and try my luck. I figure on bringing my 11' spinning rod and also a few smaller rigs.

 

I will be staying at one of those namby pamby all inclusive hotels (Paradisus Riviera Cancun), which is about 1.5 miles north of Puerto Morelos.

 

Anyone with experience in the area? Thanks in advance.

How did you get on?

 

Anyone else been to Puerto Morelos curious what top water lure action is like from the shore in this area especially the beaches to the south of puerto morelos town.

I'm interested as well, I will be in the area the last of Sept. I would like to take a light weight spinning rig for beach/reef/dock fishing.

Oh well midnight if no one here knows and posts a reply, at least you will have my march report to go by...

 

Taking some surface poppers and a medium spinning setup and see whats about but I know where I am staying is very shallow so don't know If I will have any joy.
