1:18 scale diecast muscle cars?

I have been collecting these for a couple of years now and built up a decent collection.

In retrosepct I got more than I really wanted to display. I'm trying to focus on MOPAR so I'm thinking of selling a bunch of my non-MOPAR cars. I also want to get rid of some of the MOPAR cars that I have more than one of the same model.

Thing is I've taken all of them out of the boxes to inspect them and cut the straps they come with to keep hood, trunks and doors closed during transport. Now that I want to sell and ship them I don't have those straps anymore.

I've though about rubber bands but I don't know if they would damage the cars or not.

Anyone familiar with diecast cars and have suggestions for replacement straps?

thanks,

Mike

Maybe he should try some sand paper too rolleyes.gif

I thought he was talking about the plastic coated wire ties that hold the cars to the cardboard packaging. Solid plastic zip ties would be too abrasive to use as replacements for them?

Busting you horns Squid wink.gif .....

I took him another way but I've yet to come up with an answer......

I think he needs something to hold the hood and doors shut so they don't slap around during shipping.....

But you may be right and that would be a good idea if that's what he needs.....

Yeah I'm talking about straps that hold the opening trunks, doors and hoods shut. Zip ties would be a big mistake for that use, but I know you didn't mean that. Actually cars are now held in place in the packaging by 3 or 4 screws.

Saran wrap is a good idea, I'll try to cut them into small strips and see how they hold.

I think super glue would be a mistake too. You'd never be able to open the doors, trunks and hoods again and the chemicals in it would surely hurt the paint. It would probably bring the value of the cars way down. Thanks for the input though.

You can get some very small cable ties that should fit the bill. I believe many are mounted to the box with them from the factory. Don't use rubber bands they will break down and stick to the paint over time. You can also get ties from florist supplies in the arts and crafts store.
