Travel rod blanks

Has anyone have a source for 3 or 4 section travel rods? I have found a few but they are always either fly or geared to the freshwater bass crowd. What I really want is an 8 to 8.5 foot steelhead rod for 1/4 to 1/2 oz lures that breaks into 4 sections. I travel all the time and have had a few rods lost in baggage.

The other option is to get a rainshadow 3 piece 7 foot rod and make an extra section for it.

Get you a 12 to 14 wt. fly rod blank, and build it however you like. Instant spinning, or bait casting travel rod.

For the low weights you want to use , I think there are plenty of 4 piece fly rod blanks available as someone else mentioned. I think Lami makes some 4 piece fly rods in G1000 graphite which I think will be forgiving enough to be used as a lightweight spinner.

Hello ghostfish slayer,

Is it possible to tell me, if you mean the Forecast RX7 travel fly blank?

What do you think is the max. casting weight suitable for the #8 and #9 blank?

Thanks

they are the rx6 forecast blanks. the rx7 are the rainshadow blanks. being as they will never be used as a fly rod and not have a warranty to begin with i went for the lower cost ones. i also like the feel of the lower modulus rods with hardware. they feel like they have more of a throb as the lure works instead of a vibration. the couple i have built have handled 6-12 lb test no problem with up to #3 spinners.

I have been looking for something similar, but hadn't been able to find one until I looked on TFO's website this week. They have added several 4 piece rods in the 8-9 foot range that handle either up 3/4 ounce or 1 ounce maximum. I haven't handled or fished them, but I hear good things about TFO spinning rods from two friends that have them.
