Alot of us live in a a 2 income household. some here have talked about the demise of the stay at home mom and the whole leave it beaver dad works house in the burbs ideal.

Im going to pose a simple question. could you live the life style you live now on one income (either yours or your spouses) if you didnt have to have pay the taxes you do.

Its a simple yes or no really.

myself we could do it easily.

not just taxes, but also cost of living going up (inflation housing, energy, healthcare, higher education).

but i'm not sure it really matters, tho.

with the stature of women rising in this country it's really more a matter of independence and realizing one's potential rather than economic necessity IMO.

We could easily do it now, but my wife is not cut out to be a stay at home Mom. She needs to work.

However, your logic is entirely flawed. With no taxes, you'd be paying for a host of additonal services. It wouldn't be entirely "found" money. Not to mention the inflation inherent in a disposable income flux.

John M = Sean Hannity?!!?

ask a simple yes or no question like the economic windfall of eliminating the tax BURDEN, without calculating the resulting increase in various expenses no longer paid for from the Government. This seems like a VERY intellectually honest conversation.

My answer is yes we could.....

But my wife could also stay home if I blew gold coins out my nose.

Depends. State and federal income tax, ss tax, property tax, sales tax and then the hidden ones. Probably.

Our largest expenses are all the insurances we carry. Biggest expense we have is health insurance.

All insurance's together, yes, I agree, but for me at least, my health insurance is still lower than my mortgage. Actually...now that I think of it, the interest portion of my mortgage is less than my health insurance, by about $400 per month.

Crap...I never thought of that. Dayum.

Sorry for the hijack John. My bad.

Modify the question then. You can't take away taxes and pretend that additonal expenses won't be incurred.

Nevertheless, I understand the need for fantasyland scenarios in proving a libertarian point.

My bad. I didn't realize relevant questions would be considered a hijack. Carry on. No more disruptions from me for now.
