That's the original handle...I think this is a very late model reel. If I remember correctly, the spacers bars on the early ones were slotted chrome.

WRONG,.. the older models had the black spacer bars,the newer ones had the chrome bars.

The reason I know this is because I had a 980 years ago, and the bars were black /white letters.
