Driftwood Lures

8 posts in this topic

Got this as part of a larger purchase on ebay - Collectible, valuable, or for fishing only? The plastic bag tag has "Tony" stamped on it, the wood is 7" long, and there is a red "cedar" sticker on the bag. According to the seller, those are glass eyes. Doesn't look fished but there is some hook damage on the side probably from storage.

Yes it is Tony Spina who sold Lex Lures a few years ago.

They are definately not glass eyes, they are plastic.

I made those lures with Tony in the early 1990's.

Spina and I were partners Driftwood from about 1990 to 1992 when I got out of the company. A year later Tony sold it to some men up in north Jersey. He started Lex a few years later and sold that to Scott Pullen a few years ago. Scott is producing some nice pluggage today.

Spina also owned a lure company prior to Driftwood in the late 80's. That was Beachcomber Lures out of Toms River and I think the company folded due to a dissagreement with the partners.

The Ebay info above I believe is correct.

The new Lex I believe are the best wood plug for the money. Only available thru a few shops and outlets, but I think Tim may carry them some time in the future. You don't have to give p your first born for one.

And I LOVE Gary2 also. I have a few and I fish them.
