Soo i get home from bowling last night around 11:30ish, pull my car up into the driveway, go inside my home and go to bed. Wake up the next morning for work, greet my parents, go outside and I get into my car. First thing I notice is a shiney glare coming from my passenger side window (front). I look back. Someone broke into my car. The glare was a chunk of my rear passenger side window on the front window. So glass is all in my car and in my driveway. mad.gif Not for nothing we should be allowed to shoot these bastards in the head if they are caught on someone elses property trying to do any sort of damage. Luckily nothing of value was left in my car. I don't leave anything in my car anymore due to the amount of car break ins and robberies in dix hills. This town is turning into ****. So for all of you guys that keep any valuables in the car, take the 2 minutes it takes to bring it in the house. I know of atleast 8 people that had their portable navigations, ipods, lap tops and other electronics stolen out of there car.

Hence the reason there are vehicle break ins.....i see no reason to leave expensive gadgets in a car locked or not.

Same goes for high dollar stereo systems, pocketbooks, guns and the numerous other $$$$$ piles of stuff ive seen taken from a car left in a driveway, parking lot, on the street etc.

If the lack of temptation is the only thing keeping people from breaking into cars, then I'm with raza - the problem isn't temptation, it's the dirtbags that think it's ok to steal something because it's only protected by a locked vehicle cwm13.gif

His car had no visible valuables in it...yet they still busted his window...even without visible temptation there are dirt bags around with nothing better to do then bust a window and see what they can steal. Bastages....

I personally don't leave any valuables in the car in plain sight. It is just one of those things that happens everywhere in main street usa.

Don't waste your money. Car break ins take seconds and by the time anyone gets to hear the alarm the thief is long gone. We got the same scum bags who operate over hear in every town, city and village. Sad thing is that even if someone spots a thief they rarely if ever intervene. Too darned dangerous. Every year well meaning Folk get stabbed or beaten to death for such acts of good citizenship.

It is a crime so down graded in law that in the rare event that a scumbag gets taken to court the sentance is pathetic. Maybe 50 hours of community service and a slap on the wrist. The police can barely make the effort to record a car brake in crime. There are just no proper consequences to many crimes now both in the USA and the UK. I used to be a left wing socialist I am now with age moving over very much to the right. Whats wrong with a society that has some checks and balances and where law and order are respected.

I don't lock my car

I cleverly disguise the interior with empty Dunkin Donut cups

& it stinks of bait

try not washing or cleaning your car for a few years

maybe that will help

A few years back, I used to do the same thing. Always left my truck unlocked and dirty/stanky. That still didn't stop some moron from busting the window and stealing the broken Kmart special radio. The tool should've tried the handle first, it would've saved me $150 and two days of searching for a new window. I didn't care about the radio, it didn't work anyways.

I agree that the lack of temptation is not the only thing keeping people from breaking into cars. They get broken in to everyday around here, somtimes thing get taken sometimes they dont. What Im sayin is if you leave valuables in your vehicle dont complain to me when they do get taken. I ve seen litterally thousands of dollars worth of stiff taken from cars that were left unlocked in what the victim called a "safe" neighborhood. Dirtbags have no respect for other peoples stuff and some will break $%^& just to break it.

Raza, did they rifle through the car looking for something?

There was nothing visible of them going through anything. There was only my trout rod in the back seat and that was it. Luckily they didn't steal my garage door opener. THat would of sucked. I don't think they could of rummaged much since they were only going through the window.

After quickly cleaning out my garage, I started parking in the garage now. Last time I did that was when I bought my first car. Out of sight, out of mind biggrin.gif

The problem is why do they do it? Why not look for the answer, could it be no good jobs left? No strong role models anymore? Ceo's getting more when they get fired? Could this be the reason?
