With the unbelievable lack of winter precipitation this season (in northern NJ at least), are we heading towards a serious drought this summer?

I was thinking about that the other morning. I don't recall if we went into the winter with good reserves or otherwise.

There is still plenty of winter left....think snow. icon14.gif

No Billybob, it will be a little sooner than take your cover off time, so that it gets in the way of spring cleanup and honey-dos.....eventually affecting your take your cover off time....like we had, what, three years ago?? that killed me

I hope that some heavy snow falls

that snow melt is needed for aerating fish eggs

otherwise it is going to be a very disappointing Herring run come spring.

Wouldn't rain work in the same way?

Rain runs off

Melting snow soaks in deep

That's why March is the month of mud.

I was talkin with a guy who moved up to Nova Scotia last fall, and he said that peoples wells are already running dry up there. He said they have probably has a total of about 10 inches of snow so far this winter. and they are in the snow beltheadscratch.gif

Remember, it did this last year too, then the spring was so wet and cool you couldn't put your garden in. I'd rather have the snow than another one of those springs....

Anxiously awaiting that first vine-ripened tomato!

I have been thinking the same thing.

Yesterday afternoon went trout fishing. I noticed as I was walking through a meadow near the stream that my feet were making dust as I walked. Thought Hmmmmm, ground must not be frozen...then noticed that the light snow was starting to accumulate.
