I have a Sustain 5000 that I use on my 1083 and 1084, suits me well, and has held up well for the fishing I do with it....I've had it for about 5 years, fish it maybe 25-30 nights a year.

TICA Taurus TP400S or TP5000S. A Shimano Thunnus TU6000F would seat that rod nicely as well.

Tica Taurus TP 4000 in silver or black. 15.2 oz. Comes with 2 spools, put on the 4500 size. Get the regular gear ratio, not the high speed (H model). Available in the SOL on-line store. In my opinion the Taurus TP 5000 at 22oz. is to big for this rod.

I would be careful of the stradic on thebeach. Mine doesn't like sand. Sustain would be better.

the daiwa saltiga surf 5000 is magnesium/protected for sw. Any experience on how these new magnesium reels hold up in the surf. They are very light and strong.
