Pliers, snips suggestions

Hello,

I need some pliers with a line snip on it- preferable some that I can put on some sort of leash- so that I can find them on the beach in in the dark, as well as keep them handy while wading. They need to be long enough to reach in and dig out a buried treble hook in blue fish or bass.

I don't need anything fancy, no zircon incrusted tweazers, or titanium. I'm looking for practicality, function and price. headscratch.gif I'll probably buy 2.

What kind of line do you need to cut? If it's mono/fluoro any needle nose pliers with wire cutters should work. I like the ones from Rockland Tool, they have a "Chrome Nickel" finish that resists rust quite well. I get them at Job Lot for $2. wink.gif They don't have a lanyard ring but you can just drill a hole through the handle to make one, or use some cable ties and cloth tape to attach the lanyard. I don't use a lanyard on mine, but I do use them for my knife and Gerber multi plier. With the Gerber as a back up and more $2 pliers in the car I'm not worried about losing them.

If you need a lanyard you can make one out of phone handset cord, or buy similar products that are used as key chains. For attachment to the lanyard ring on the tool I remove the split ring/key ring and replace it with a binder ring to make it easier to get on and off.

A lanyard and some kind of a sheath around the wading belt works great.

Nail clippers are also excellent for cutting braids, I always have one with me.

Go with nail clippers on a lanyard around your neck, and a pair of forceps clipped to your waders, shirt, whatever. You then have everything that you need at a very low cost.

E,

With the tool market flooded with garbage, you might look at the Ross Pescadors. I checked 'em out and with Ross's service, should you need it, they look great!
