...using a rocket launcher to reach those schools of fish that were way out of range? Well the technology has finally come around. I just saw a commercial (wish I could find a link for this) for a new fishing rod called the 'Rocket Fishing Rod'. The hook/bait is actually encapsulated in some type of projectile. You put this in the front end of the 'gun' (which is actually your rod) and shoot it out...it goes all of 30 ft. Once this projectile lands in the water, it releases the hook/bait into the water. The rod is probably 2 or 3 feet long and what I'd term as a 'fast' action rod...and it's made of plastic...

I think before the end of the year, you'll find these in Dick's Sporting Goods next to the Flying Fish lures (yes they still sell them).

LOL, back in the 90's some of the guys in our annual December trip to the OBX were experimenting with how far they could shoot a hopkins out of a potato gun. The birds were out there ya see....

 

Of course, none of them were rednecks or had been drinking... $10,000 just there for the taking, and no one was smart enough to video the lunacy.

LOL. Check out the book "backyard Ballistics" if you want to see ways to build something easily that could probably be adapted. (Clam Cannon....??????)
