View PostWhat size mono do you guys use for this?

Hooks are on 40 or 50# mono, preferably Big Game (not leader, Mono). Last couple of years I just whatever crap they put on teh boat rods. Hooks get stiff mono leder, we get it by size, .042, - .047 - no clue what # test but it is unbreakable.

Why use Big game 50 mono instead of the Big game 50 leader material?..I have been using the leader material for some time. I have not had any problems with it at all. But, maybe I am missing something that I could benefit from....

Thanks...

View PostBilly,

How long do you precut the leader before snelling the 2 hooks and adding a dropper loop in the middle of the 2 hooks?

It depends on the bite. I usually use an 18" piece of leader so that each hook end up with 6-8" of leader.
