Just for the record, even if someone here is looking for that, you are not going to be able to sell it to them here. That's not how this site works :)

For the record Tim, no disrespect to you or anyone else. I have no intentions on selling it. It’s a conversation piece. I live 20 minutes from the St Lawrence seaway where we have the bass masters fishing tournament.I would have no problem selling it if I wanted to, for the record. I just thought I would share something that cannot be found easily.

Excellent  Then I like your style already...most folks who show up here to present a hard to find item to our members, it's because they are trying to sell it. I absolutely appreciate your sharing something that has been hard to find with the folks here with no intention to drum up views for an eBay sale

Welcome aboard...if you fish, you'll find this place interesting...or entertaining...or some other level of fun - and that's what we want  :th:

Show someone how to catch striped bass and they'll be ready to fish anywhere.
Show someone where to go striped bass fishing and you'll have a desperate report chaser with loose lips.

Still being made. I know a MA tackle shop that has them.

Guys bait fishing the wachusett use them. Open bail and the line goes into a cut in the rubber. When a lake trout takes the bait the flag is tripped like a tip up and is released from the rubber cut. You can see the flag up so you know you have a fish on. Precursor to bait runner reels.

The nice part is you can be throwing lures down the shore and keep an eye on the flag. If its up head back. It's a guessing game with baitrunners, which I have for the wachusett now.

That's interesting.  What sorta bait rigs are used for lake trout like that.  Completely foreign concept to me.  I've only caught a couple in the ADk of NY trolling from a boat. Not my favorite way to fish.

Bottom fishing. Sliding egg sinker, swivel, leader and hook to shiner. Boring but productive. Although I caught more lakers on lures last spring than soaking shiners.

Kinda what I was thinking.  I was wondering about a drop shop or a hi/lo rig with shiners too.

What sorta setup is most popular?  Also max laker size?

I bought a light 8ft rod last year just for trout fishing with light jigs and slip bobber on some local lakes.  Might be too light thou.

Average laker is 18-20". I use a 8ft spin built on a downrigger blank with am Okumo baitrunner. 1/2 -1 oz sinkers. Mostly fish lures with a 8ft 3 Pac Bay swimbait blank rated 3/8 to 1 1/4 oz. Chucks kastmasters and other spoons a mile. Its more fun to catch them on lures or slip bobber than egg sinkers.

I use a 7 1/2 ft med lite spin for slip bobbers.

ya. I'm actually taking my spoon rod albie fishing next monday. It launches epoxies and 5" hurley squids with 15lb PP.

Sounds like my favorite rod. 8.5ft 4piece rod off Amazon.  I think it's Goture brand or something.    I use Fireline cause it's easier for me to handle.  I've got a couple reels with PP and 832, nice line but I struggle so much with it in my fingers.

Also my reason for bait fishing so much.  My heart condition makes stamina an issue.  I can only cast so much before I'm just whooped.

One last question.  Does Wachusett have a decent amount of public shore access??

I leave all the threads on this forum open forever - we don't archive them, we want people to find old discussions and get involved with them :) It'll be twenty four years this November and you can still go back and post to the very first thread ever started here. It's something that I'm proud of and not something I believe any other websites have done. I like when folks respond to ancient posts :beers:

And that thing is pretty cool...I just wanted him to know that if he wants to sell it here, he's gonna need to stick around, participate a little bit and then offer it on the BST Forum as that's the only way we allow things to be sold here :)

One of the original reef aquarium keeping forums does the same thing Tim. Chris keeps them all there so you can go in and quote them and move it to a new thread. Hell, I read this site for about 6 months before I started posting. LOTS of good info here if you look.
