i wanted to know if anyone knew where i could get some julie's gutabite strike indicators. i'm told that they are no longer being made. my father had 2 and i lost one of them, basically i'm trying to replace it but cannot find any for the life of me. it is a small gadget with a flag that pops up when a fish takes your line. they are great for fishing the wachusett. i've been looking for a while and have tried a million places, but have had no luck. any information on where i can get one or a few or who to contact for info about them would be greatly appreciated.

Why don't you ask Gary Carlisle at Gazo's Bait & Tackle on Millbury Street in Worcester, MA? If anybody knows anything about where to find them or what the current status of the company is, it will be Gary.

In the past several years there have been attempts to produce a very similar product totally out of plastic (with the exception of the spring) instead of stamped aluminum with cable tie-like devices to attach the device to your rod. Initial production runs had some quality issues. I bought some of these early units from Wachusett Bait & Tackle in West Boylston.

The new product is so similar to the old one that it wouldn't surprise me to find the same folks involved in the making of both the new and the old designs.

Rumors here in the Worcester area have been that with the introduction of the new product, the old product design would definitely be discontinued. I heard this kind of scuttlebutt more than five years ago.

Addressing the negative comments about using this strike indicator from the peanut gallery: These folks have obviously never spent 6 or 8 hours on a freezing, sleeting day, waiting for the very few bites that one may get from a good spring trout water like Wachusett. With no boats allowed in this reservoir, anglers are reduced to a shore bound waiting game, trying to keep a lively shiner in the strike zone while staying as comfortable as possible in the worst of the New England elements. Yes, the dedicated and astute angler with loads of patience and a focused mentality will certainly have the edge if he can be holding his rod when that chubby laker finally comes along. But you can watch your rod with your hands comfortably placed in your pockets or a hand warmer muff and still have plenty of time to react to a pick up. The "gut-a-bite" device is a very handy device for indicating a pick up and then releasing your very light mono line to flow freely off the spool while that laker or brown makes his initial run. Many big trout have been caught using these devices.

Just for the record, even if someone here is looking for that, you are not going to be able to sell it to them here. That's not how this site works :)

Show someone how to catch striped bass and they'll be ready to fish anywhere.
Show someone where to go striped bass fishing and you'll have a desperate report chaser with loose lips.

Lol necro’d an 18 year old thread. “Facepalm”

I leave all the threads on this forum open forever - we don't archive them, we want people to find old discussions and get involved with them :) It'll be twenty four years this November and you can still go back and post to the very first thread ever started here. It's something that I'm proud of and not something I believe any other websites have done. I like when folks respond to ancient posts :beers:

And that thing is pretty cool...I just wanted him to know that if he wants to sell it here, he's gonna need to stick around, participate a little bit and then offer it on the BST Forum as that's the only way we allow things to be sold here :)
