Hello, humans. I haven't seen this addressed in other discussions, so wanted to see if there's a quick, straightforward answer. (Pause for laughter.) Basically, I'm curious if the new regs require that circle hooks be used in every circumstance. Example: Say I'm fishing for schoolies with a soft lure and a jig head. Does it have to be a circle hook jig head? (I know that charter boat associations and others groups have asked for an exemption from the new regs when trolling tubes and leadheads -- which makes sense. That said, I definitely support the spirit and most of the specifics of the current decrees regarding circle hooks.) In short, I'm perfectly happy to use non-offset circle hooks in most every striper scenario -- but I can't figure out if I'll be screwed or fined if I use something other than a circle hook jig head with a little Zoom super fluke in the Housatonic. Any clarity or insights will be most welcome. Thanks. Benny

Bought here couple months ago. Larger than what I’m looking for. Also interested in trade for 3 tube bag. $175 shipped. Firm!

Hey everyone, Last year was the first year in a boat trolling tube n worm for stripers. Did very well in rivers where depths maxed out at 35' (all the way down to 4') using unweighted tubes with 40-50# braided fishing line. I am wondering if it would be beneficial to add an egg sinker (and what weight to add) for deeper water? Or would it be worth it to get a dedicated lead core setup? Ive seen many posts online that say the tube *needs* to be close to the bottom or close to where the stripers are, but clearly that isn't true from my experience. I'm just wondering if its worth the money to go lead core to get the tube down further, especially if it would help me catch bigger or more fish. Obviously adding a lead weight won't cost much and I'll definitely be trying it out this season. Also, I did not have any luck fishing the ocean (Long Island Sound, CT side) with the tube and worm. Would getting my tube down deeper help in this situation? Fished a few times near reefs and shoreline/structure with no luck. Thanks! Sharing your experiences or adding your input would be very beneficial.

I'm still really enjoying the 360 degree nature of tying on tubes. Basically catching up to where cats like CTaylor were 5 years ago. And always exploring the species bending possibilities pioneered by Davidstrout. Tenticle shrimp? This ones getting swung in front of a laid up tarpon come march.

Been having a great time exploring the world of tubes. Love the idea of not having to buy a 600sp every time I want to tie a fly. The post about complex twists really got my wheels turning. One of the first "new" techniques I've come across in a long time. So I gave it a spin... Pink marabou, bronze mallard and palmer chenille. The marabou and mallard were single sided. The chenille flash got burried a bit and I didn't pick it out much from fear of breaking the marabou stem. But all and all I really dig it. Two yak wings and an ice dub body. Finished with a few turns of pheasant. Same old two step.
