  1. Hi all, just asking for your thoughts on what do do in this situation. I myself am a RI resident and am planning on buying a boat, trailer, and motor from a MA resident. The boat and motor are used, but the owner says he bought the trailer brand new from a MA dealer. The boat has all paperwork title and registration. However the owner never decided to register the brand new trailer, so he doesn’t have a title nor registration. But he claims to still have the original bill of sale that was provided to him from the dealer at the time of purchase. Since the brand new trailer was never registered, it shouldn’t show up in any dmv or rmv database. On the RI dmv website, it states “If purchased at a RI dealership, tax will be collected at the time of sale, tax exempt form and proof of tax paid will be required.” Nowhere does it say anything about if brand new trailer was purchased from an out of state dealer. Since there was no title ever generated for the brand new trailer nor a registration ever generated, would this technically fall under the brand new trailer category and required just the original bill of sale to begin the registration process. Any ideas in what forms of paperwork I would need it this situation if I was to purchase the trailer? Thanks
  2. All, I am currently in the market for a boat with a motor and trailer. My price range is at most $7000. Looking for a boat that is at least 20’ and at most 22’. Doesn’t matter if aluminum or fiberglass, duel console, center console, or cuddy. Any make and model is ok except Bayliners. Boat doesn’t have to be in drop and go condition, just needs to have a solid floor, solid transom, and solid hull. Not looked for a project boat or a boat that needs major work. Small things that need to be replaced that don’t ruin the integrity of the boat such as bilge pump, steering, fuel lines etc is ok. Good condition running Outboard motor only, I’m not picky on the size/hp of the motor. Would prefer a 2-stroke Johnson, Evinrude, Mercury, or Mariner but Chrysler, Yamaha, Suzuki, and Honda is Ok, doesn’t matter if pre-mix or oil injected. Motor needs to run with good compression, has spark, and good fuel flow through carburetors. Trailer just needs to be towable with good tires, good wheel bearings and zero rot. Paperwork for both the boat and trailer is a must. I don’t want the risks of registering a paperless trailer as homemade. I am located in North Smithfield, Rhode Island. I am willing to travel as far as a 60 mile radius to look at a boat that meets the requirements I have listed above. If anyone is selling a boat that meets or is similar to what I am looking for above just hit me up. Thanks
  3. Anyone looking to get rid of a 5 x 8 cargo trailer with high ceilings within the Rhode Island radius? I'm in the market for one.
  4. Last year I replaced the leaf springs on my trailer. I stepped up to the next weight. my wheel well sits approx. 1-2 inches above the wheel. I am afraid if I hit a bump or a pothole, I will rub the tire. any suggestions or ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks,
  5. Hi all, newbie here. I am a novice beach driver (with a camper). I have gone remote beach camping 3x with no issues. I found out the hard way that the beach conditions can be forgiving to a newbie like me or (as was over the weekend) way brutal. Humbling. I was stuck to the axles once and soft/loose sanded once. both times, friendly helpful texans paused their vacations to help me out. Now, I am on a path to self reliance in these situations with my F250 Diesel and 36ft bumperpull trailer. Not exactly an ideal set up for remote beach camping but the princess demands her castle with all our stuff. Compromise, the glue of happy married life.. Shag, I saw an earlier post on your setup , seems similar to mine. Could you elaborate on your experience. Suggestions on the tires and set up, etc? thanks for the feedback (from all) in advance
  6. I'm in need of a trailer that will transport at least 1, but preferably 2, 13' kayaks. Thanks for considering.

  8. How difficult is it to convert a roller trailer to a bunk. I have an old 16' StarCraft that I am redoing and it came with a roller trailer , thinking bunk might be better for the areas I fish. Has anyone done one? Thanks
  9. F/S 1992 Ocean Scout 20' Center Console powered by a 1987 Evinrude 88spl on a trailer. Asking $5,000
  10. Well let me start off by saying I am very happy to own my first boat, a 1969 16' Cobia in rough shape we are in the process of restoring. The boat also came with a trailer and that's where the biggest problem is right now. In our excitement to get out first boat we forgot to get any proof of ownership on the trailer, not only that but we discovered the sticker with the VIN and other information was painted over. So basically now we are trying to register a trailer with no VIN no proof of ownership and it's not even mentioned on the bill of sale. I have tried contacting the previous owner but he hasn't been much help. Has anyone been this dumb and can offer some advice on where to go from here?
  11. Thule Hullivator for sale.Little used and in great shape. I'm the second owner. Only used one year by the original owner and only in 2013 by me for a half dozen outings. Didn't use last year as I purchased a Malone Microsport trailer last year since I picked up another Hobie and need more carrying capacity. $385, shipping not included. Can be picked up in southeastern MA.More photos can be taken if requested. HillTop Ps: I'm on vacation this week so couldn't ship till next week.
  12. Looking to pick-up a trailer for my 14' fiberglass runabout. does not need to be a special trailer, just something with wheels that will hold a 14' boat with a 35 hp motor. Looking for somewhere in the range of free to cheap. In need of some repairs is ok. Could even be an old pop up camper type trailer that I can hack up and put some bunks on. Even a utility trailer would work. Old trailer frame with an axle and wheels. etc. Let me know what you have.
