Unfortunately found one this morning and confirmed my suspicion. Bed bug somehow got in from unknown source. Haven't been anywhere for the past few months and can't think of anything that could got it home.....except maybe guests few weeks ago..... Anyhow, anyone have tips on getting rid of them before I call for an exterminator (expensive)? I have an infant and a toddler at home too. So make it harder for me to deal with the bugs.

I've got a recipe I'm going to give a try this Sunday. Has anyone done this at home on kettle grill? Would I be better off using the Weber Smokey Mountain with the water bowl removed? I don't have a rotisserie for my Webers and my Kamado Joe is in need of warranty service. Any words of advice or tips for this cook? I'm prepping the pork and making the marinade tomorrow. How should I set up the coals to cook this? Do I surround the meat with coals and let it cook like that, or bank the coals to one side and just rotate the meats every 15 minutes?

As the title says I am new to saltwater fishing. My in-laws live down on the island and introduced me to it last May, I've been hooked ever since. I was born and raised in the finger lakes and am used to catching lake trout and salmon, but this was another world to me, just about burned out my salmon rod in the saltwater and I couldn't even cast as far as needed.... The in-laws let me borrow one of their casting rods and with that I managed a measly 8" striper, I was so exited. The next cast produced a keeper fluke, something I had never seen one before. They made a fantastic supper out of it and that is what hooked me on the saltwater fishing, good fighting and even better eating. I have been watching John Skinner's videos on YouTube and have purchased a new rod and reel based off of what I could interpret from his videos( A 7'6" MH Blair Wiggins speed stick with a Penn Fierce III Reel and 20lb braid). I have also been stocking up on various Gulp and bucktails. I have yet to really use this setup in saltwater however, it absolutely kills as a jigging setup for Lake trout and Atlantic Salmon. Getting to the point of saltwater being new to me and wanting to put a good impression on the in-laws, how do I fish for Fluke, Weakfish, blues, and stripers successfully? I have access to a 12' rowboat with a 9.9hp outboard (currently rebuilding the boat part) and will have access in the Shirley, Narrows, New old inlet, Belport bay area. I know that I can't get get a specific answer here (for obvious reasons) but anything helps! I keep reading that people are talking about backbays? what are those? Here's what I know/ have already figured out: 1) Fluke like edges/ channels and stay close to the bottom, a hi-lo rig with gulp and a bucktail works 2) I haven't tried anything else I'm hoping to be back down there mid may- mid June I'm new to the site as well and don't think that I can DM yet? any help with this is also greatly appreciated.

Hello, all I am having a dilemma with pairing these tools. I have vs150, vs200, gsb1201L, and gsb1081m and lb. test line. I'm hoping this would cover the Southshore, Northshore open beaches, back bays, occasional Montauk, and inlets (specifically the 2 Southshore inlets). My biggest issue last year was reaching the outer bar on the open beaches (using a 9' only). I wanted the 1201L as my all-around paired with the lighter vs150 on 30lb line. Then, the 1081m with the vs200 as my occasional Montauk and inlet rod. Do I have it backward? Thank you.

Stripers Tips for an unexperienced stripper fisherman
Gilbert Reyes posted a topic in Connecticut Fishing
My uncle lives in Connecticut and I have been wanting to plan a trip and I would like to go fishing while I’m there but I’m not sure what to use when it comes to bait and how tides affect fishing I am from Florida.- 31 replies

Hey Guys, I'm looking to get into striper fishing and was hoping for some advice on gear. I'm most likely going to be fishing off jetties or piers in the MA/RI area, as well as the canal. I was checking out the St. Croix mojo inshore in a 7 foot 6 medium-heavy or heavy, with a Penn battle 2 or Daiwa bg for a reel, either 4000 or 5000 sizes. I also have an older 1o foot Penn pro guide surf rod (pgs1530s10) and a Penn 750ssm reel from my dad. Should I save my money and use what I have, or do you think I should invest in the new setup? I was also thinking of running either 30 or 40 lb braid with a 50 lb fluorocarbon leader. Would that be a good choice for line? Any advice or tips would be much appreciated.

Recently, I noticed I can no longer like posts, or edit my own. What could be a reason for this? Also, how do you PM people?

I would like to make aware that the new Slammer III ver 3 has 2 shims now on the drive gear instead of previously one IIRC. Now here is the warning. When putting on the two shims; first put on the thin shim, followed by the larger stainless steel shim. The reason I made this post is because me and 2 friends all got the same model, all of our reels came with the version 2 diagram showing only one shim though. If you put these shims on the wrong way your handle sleeve/collar will get a small amount of play and you will also get a small grinding/clicking feeling. I spent 3 hours thinking my reel was defective and thought someone accidentally put in an extra shim. When I switched around the shims there was no play and the clicking noise was gone. I’ve fished a lot of reels and used Penn since I was an ankle biter and I am proud to say the only problem I’ve had ever had with Penn Reels is receiving this outdated diagram lol. Cheers- Cody

Hey all. A friend recommended this forum. Just moved to Pacifica CA, and I've heard stripers, salmon, and crab are pretty plentiful here. I live about an 8 minute walk to Linda Mar Beach, so looking up to load my wagon on the weekends and do some shore fishing. What's good to catch in March? Anything bite consistently throughout the year at this beach? Any general tips for good fishing here? Thanks!

Hi All, Yes, I'm thinking about "trying" to fly fish the surf. I know its going to be a lot of trial and error, but always fun learning something new. I dunno what it is, but I just feel like I have to try it. Any tips or gear anyone would like to suggest for a newbie. I know there's a whole fly fishing forum, but just wanted to ask the west coast folks first. thanks, Richard

New saltwater fisherman. No access to a boat . Predominantly fishing plum island, trying to learn as much as possible. I've had a little success with school stripers at Plum island , using a fish finder rig baited with eels, clams and seaworms on a 6/0 gamakatsu circle hook. Using 50lb power pro braid To a 40 lb leader . What species of fish can be caught off shore ? What hot spots are there in Massachusetts for any species of saltwater fish ? (hot spot for blues, Mack, sea bass, striper etc) What lures work best when targeting blue fish and stripers? Tips for catching more fish ? What seasons are certain species more active? (I heard Blue fish in the summer during the day ) Locations to fish from shore ? Bait tips ?
