  1. Looking to buy a Stradic 4000 or 5000 FL used for $140 including shipping to NY. Don’t care about cosmetics within reason, but needs to be 10/10 mechanically. Anyone got an extra one lying around?
  2. 3 reels for sale after a recent upgrade. All in great working order, regularly maintained, cleaned, parts replaced. Most have a newer IAR set up. Cosmetically a mixed bag and price will reflect that. Quantum Smoke 30 PTs - $60 shipped. Worst of the reels in terms of looks. Paint peeling off the reel foot and a few other spots. Reel works great though and is loaded with 15lb Cortland braid. Light reel with pretty good drag. Quantum Cabo 40 PTsE - $140 shipped. Best reel over all. Great condition and no issues other than replacing the IAR on this one as well last year. Loaded with 20lb PP. Some minor scuffs as seen but in great working order. Shimano Stradic 4000FI + Spare Spool - $120 shipped. My go to reel for quite some time, has been taken care of but shows its age. Plenty of things replaced along its life time like roller bearings, IAR, carbon drag, Gomexus knob. Mechanically works great although could probably use a cleaning. 20lb and 15lb PP on the spools.
  3. Hey Everyone, Recently had some issues with one of my reels and am looking to replace it. Searching for a Shimano Stradic in the 1000 size. Not too worried about which generation, just more so curious about what everyone has to offer. Not really looking for anything new since I am trying to save some money purchasing used. Thanks in advance, Salty
  4. Hi SOL, Looking into getting one of these two reels, would be pairing it with a Lamiglas Infinity 9'2 heavy spinning rod. Plan to throw 1-1.5 oz jigs and Texas rigged swimbaits on it here in Cali, off the rocks for rockfish and also in the surf for perch/halibut/etc. Which reel would be better?
  5. $150 shipped to your door…reel with box and lure lot (gotcha, Maria, kastmaster, 2 superstrike) Used Stradic 5000, good functional condition, scratches/scrapes for a used good condition reel, has some minor play but functions as it should used primarily to catch Spanish mackerel and Bonitos. Selling to fund another reel. I tried my best to capture the scrapes and scratches, used on pier. ask any questions

  10. I'm looking to get a reel to pair with my Duckett inshore series 7' Med power Mod fast rod. I have it narrowed down to the Stradic FL 5000 or the Vanford 5000. Right now I like the stradic fl more only because the color matches the reel better, lol. Seriously, what's the difference between the 2? It seems that the Stradic might be a little more durable? It's mostly used for smaller stripers, until the Albies show up on Cape Cod. Then it gets a workout!

  16. WTS used Shimano Stradic Ci4+ 4000 FB, listing for a friend 8/10 cosmetically and mechanically, used for a season in the salt so it could potentially use a cleaning/servicing but still works great. No box/paperwork $150 shipped PayPal

  18. Hey everyone, I am looking to purchase a Shimano Stradic in the size range 2500-3000. I own many Stradics in both the regular and Ci4+ series and love them all. Only really asking that the reel be in pretty good condition. Nothing against the reel being somewhat new or new, just not trying to spend a ton of money. This is going to be used for a backup rod that will be fished pretty consistently. Thanks so much in advance everyone! Salty
  19. WTS lightly used Stradic 3000FK. Excellent condition, handle was upgraded to one from a Sustain FG. $130 shipped, PayPal
  20. So... With three kids at home and toys taking over the house, my wife made a rule. "One thing in, one thing out." Unfortunately, my toys are included. I just bought a Certate LT from the BST forum, so now I'm selling my reels. I'm two up'ping my wife and selling three reels as a bundle. Please read through for conditions on them. They are not perfect. I'm the original owner and I always rinsed my reels using freshwater after fishing. You may want to apply grease/oil. I just wiped them off with Penn reel cleaner and so some pictures show "rainbow" colors. Stradic sold. Selling Ballistics as a bundle. $320 shipped for two Ballistics. I take Paypal. 1. Daiwa Ballistic EX 4000 (BLS-EX4000H) Retail $210 - Bought from Cabela's. Spooled with 40 lb SpiderWire braid. Cosmetically 8/10. There are some visible scratches (see pics). Functionally 9/10. I honestly can't say anything bad about the reel. Knocking off a point because it's not new. 2. Daiwa Ballistic LT 6000 (BLSLT6000D-C) Retail $250 - Bought new from ebay. Spooled with 40 lb Power Pro. Cosmetically 8.5/10. See pic for minor scratches. Functionally 8/10. Drag is smooth and the reel itself is smooth, but I think line roller needs oil. Last time I used it, I heard some noise, but at home, I couldn't reproduce it. Knocking off 2 points because I couldn't figure out where the noise was coming from. As I said, reeling in felt smooth and drag was smooth when I was working a big Crevalle Jack. 3. (Sold) Shimano Stradic FK (ST4000XGFK) Retail - Retail $210 - Bought from Amazon. Spooled with 30 lb Power Pro. Cosmetically 7/10. See pic for scratches. Functionally 5/10. Drag works fine and the reel itself works without a problem. However, it feels geary now. It started to feel geary two trips ago. I downgraded the reel to 'family and friends' use, but decided to throw it in the bundle. You can probably replace the main gears (if that's what's making it geary) or just use it as a spare for friends and family. I personally think that it has a lot of mileage left in it. Total retail: $670. I actually paid close to retail on all of the reels, if not more - couldn't find discounts at the time. Even on ebay, I paid close to retail. Now the pics...
  21. Like new Stradic FK 2500. Only used a handful of times in freshwater. Comes with box, paperwork, etc. $150 shipped PayPal
  22. Looking for a handle for a shimano stradic fj 2500. Doesn't need to be the original fj handle, anything that would fit the screw in for the gear. The knobs can be ruined and everything, I have a power knob to put on it. Figured I would see if anyone has an old one here before I shell out $50 for a new handle which is obscure to me. Thanks.
  23. I recently purchased a Stradic FL and I noticed something when I had my Stradic stored next to my other reels. The bail wire of my new Stradic is curved down, as opposed to up. I have seen other reviews of the Stradic and didn't notice the bail wire being bent like mine either. And, my other reel's bail wires are not curved like. I wanted to get some feedback to find out the following: 1) Is this how the bail wire of the Stradic FL is supposed to look? 2) Is this even an issue?
  24. Hi - I need some help with the details before I purchase: looking for help on power, action, and reel size. My specific questions are at the end: I'm looking at a 7' medium power, fast action St. Croix Avid Inshore rod paired with a Shimano Stradic FL in the 5000 size. I am currently using a 9' medium power, moderate fast action Tica TC2 surf rod (1/2 oz to 3oz) which is a little much for smaller lures and definitely not giving any sensitivity when I am using anything under 1oz. I love casting from the surf but there are so many awesome bays around here. Ultimately I want a 7' inshore, a 9' all-around and an 11' rod for jetties/inlets, big surf. I want something that will excel in bay fishing....looking for something that can provide long casts, sensitive enough to feel bottom with bucktail jigs, can handle stripers and blues (maybe fluke and weakfish, and can be a versatile pole I can have some fun with. I had a couple questions: Does this setup make sense for fishing in the bays around Long Island? Does a medium power, fast action pole make sense (think 3/8 to 3/4 oz lures are ok)? Or would you step up to a medium heavy, fast action (1/2 to 1 & 1/4oz). Or something else? Would you go 4000 or 5000 size for the reel? Tempted to go 5000 which gets me a nicer knob and more line (4000 and 5000 are same physical size I believe) Does 7' rod make sense here or should I go 7'6" or 8'? Also if anyone has any suggestion for quality braid that would make sense for this setup. Thanks everyone. I am new around here and basically a hack, vying for the title of 'worst fisherman on Long Island' so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Attached a pic of my latest striper from earlier this week.
