(2) Star Handcrafted 6'6" 30-50# roller stripper and tip with single speed TLD 25’s loaded with 40# momoi and 80# wind ons. The reels have upgraded carbon fiber drag washers and power handles. The rods have intact foam grips and an Aluminum gimbal butt. These were used for school bluefin tuna trolling south of Block Island for two seasons and caught fish up to 65” and 150lbs. The length makes them ideal for trolling in the long rigger position out of a gunnel rod holder on a smaller boat without outriggers pulling narrow side trackers. (2) Star Handcrafted 5'9” 16-30# roller stripper and tip with single speed TLD 25’s loaded with 40# momoi and 60# wind ons. The rods have intact foam grips and an Aluminum gimbal. These were used for striped bass trolling umbrellas, T-man tubes, mojos, and large soft plastics. (3) Okuma Custom Black 6'6" 20-40# with Okuma SLX20 reels. These combos are made exclusively for West Marine and retail for $150ish now. If I remember correctly, they were well above $200 when I purchased them. Two are loaded with 30# Berkeley Big Game, the other is empty. These were bought for mahi trolling but are unfished. One setup has been on a few boat rides. I am asking $900 for the entire package, or $700 for the four Star combos and $300 for the Okumas. I will entertain reasonable offers. I would prefer local pickup, but shipping can be arranged in the CONUS. These would outfit a boat nicely for inshore and light offshore trolling. Thank you for your consideration and Happy Holidays.

Up for sale is my used with box Star S7000 spinning reel, currently in bail-less configuration. Bail and components are included in the box. I have no idea what the braid is on it, came spooled from previous owner. One small blemish shown it the photos. Everything shown in the pics is what you get. 125$ shipped to conus + PP 3%. I think venmo now has purchase protection for something like .019% plus .10cents? I would accept that for payment as well. TRADES : I am interested in similarly valued 12' surf rods with up to 8oz ratings+. I know they are not economical to ship, but throwing it out there. May be willing to add cash for a rod that I cannot live without. I am also interested in long cast surf model spinning reels. I also am willing to add cash for a reel that I am very interested in.

I'm moving soon so these have to go ASAP... 1.) Aubut swimbait rod 8 ft rated 1-5. Handles weight range great, and is perfect for smaller treble hook swimbaits/plugs. $150 2.) Lamiglas gsb 1321mh 11 ft rated 4-8. I sort of destroyed the handle trying to make a split grip, so you might want this just for the blank. But all guides are still intact. $125 3.) Star rod conventional 7 ft rated to 2 1/2 oz. Great little bottom fishing rod. $25 4.) Lamiglas black inshore conventional 7 ft. Rated 2-10 oz. Another good bottom fishing rod used only twice since I bought it last fall. $50 Located in Hull MA. I can post more pics upon request. Pick up only no shipping. Thanks fellas!

Star VPR Surf vs. TFO Tactical Surf. Looking at the 10’6” MH 2-6oz in both, as well as the 9’ and 11’ sizes possibly. For anyone who has tried either or both of these brand rods, which do you prefer and why? Are they comparable? They VPR is about $40 more expensive. I need 2-3 new setups for next year (one lighter and one heavier for canal and surf, and maybe one for jettys and piers). I can’t decide between Star or TFO. Going to be using this in Cape Cod Canal, NY, NJ, and VA surf, as well as FL surf, and possibly FL and NJ jetty’s. I travel a lot to find fish lol. Considering pairing with some Vissers. Thanks in advance for any advice!

Can't quite get my Tranx 300 back to normal performance after my first breakdown of it. With the drag loosened all the way from 0 to about 33%, everything feels fine... once I tighten down the drag star to about half and beyond, this also is having a moderate lock up effect of the handle turning. Although the reel does function, this issue creates a distinct and persistent knocking sound and vibration of the whole reel in hand as you turn the handle. In light drag scenarios this is unoticeable, but when I go to use this reel for flippin and punchin with fully engaged drag it will be an issue. Any thoughts/suggestions? Have reassembled the handle/tension nut/spring/etc portion of the reel several times now and nothing seems to mitigate. Thanks for any help!

Okuma Azores 90S, spooled with I believe 100lb PP braid and 100lb mono top shot. Upgraded carbon drag washers, Gomexus knob. Light scratches from hooks or boat. Never caught a fish on it. Used as a back up. $100 shipped. Think I have the box somewhere still. Star Aerial Jigging Rod, used but in great condition. Hook holder bent up as it gets in the way while jigging. Landed a number of 50-80lb yellowfin last weekend no problem. Just want something with a bit more lifting power and length for my style. $75 pick up preferred but have a tube. Add $10 for shipping. Hi guys, Long time reader of this forum and the time has come to seek for advice. Don't beat me up right away, since i have already used a search function in order to find the best fishing rod for the Canal. Basically have two questions: 1. I am looking for a spinning rod that could be a good fit for the PENN Slammer 3 6500 High Speed. I am primarily looking for jigging, throwing jerkbaits, maybe even throwing chunks from the surf occasionally, with the least priority given to the topwater lures. Is there any rod that is multifunctional and does everything not perfect, but just good? Anything in 2-8 oz range. 10-12Ft. Budget: $350. I currently use 9ft Star stellar 1-4 oz fast, but this is definitely not enough to make long casts on the Canal. I have stopped my choice on St. Croix Mojo Surf and St. Croix Avid Surf, but i have seen a lot of debates on perfect rod for the Canal and there are a lot of opinions about my choice being not a very reliable one. People seem to give their favor mostly to everything from ODM Jigster, TFO, Star Paraflex, XSRA 1205, Tsunami Airwave Elite to 600$+ custom made poles. But unfortunately, i can not try every single rod and learn from mistakes, especially by spending seasons of trial and error and thousands of dollars). Please advice! 2. I would also love to hear any comments on SLAMMER 3 6500 HIGH SPEED as well, since i haven't seen a soul using it on the Canal. Seems to be a really good reel with an amazing retrieve rate (48 inches per crank!). Which reels are competitors to this one? (besides Saragosa) Thank you very much for any advice in advance, truly appreciate it.

Hello, I am looking to buy a 10’ MH Surf Rod with a rate of 1-4oz or 1-5oz. I would prefer in person buying and I am located in Boston, Ma so north or south shore is also fine. I am open to shipping if the price is right as well. Looking to spend up to $150ish depending on the rod. Open to suggestion, thank you for looking!

Just picked up some new gear for inshore. Star Seagis SK614FT76. they call it a light but it is medium light based on other rods I have. They make this rod with split grip and full grip. The grip length was suppose to be shorter on the full grip but it is 18", 2 inches longer then my 7'6" Tidemaster. Not crazy about that. The rod is beautiful and matches my BG2500 perfectly. It seems a bit nicer then the tidemaster. The weights are the same. The Seagis is .1 oz lighter then my Tidemaster but that is just manufacturing variation. I like the action a bit better. It bends into the blank a bit more but is about the same speed as the tidemaster. Plus I got it on Sale for 135.00 so it was a steal at that price.

The Saragosa is a 6000sw, 3 years old, mechanically a 9 and cosmetically a 7. It whipped 10 fish over 40" the other night and is very smooth all around. A little rock rash here and there but overall in very good shape and ready to be fished. Comes loaded with 30lb white jbraid. Retails for $250 new. Yours for $170 shipped. The Star Paraflex is 9ft rated 1-4oz and bought last year. Has a few small scratches but is in great shape and the wrap, guides, and seat are great. This is a perfect beach rod that can throw an sp a mile and 3oz no problem. This is honestly one of the most underrated rods as far as versatility I have owned. Picked up an ODM though that does the same and is a little lighter. This is a 70/30 split. Retail for $200 new. Yours for $130 picked up or $150 shipped. Buy both together for $275 picked up or $300 shipped.

I am looking at a couple of options for new boat rods for conventional reels. Primary target species is stripers and will be trolling 60-70% of the time. One rod that I don't know much about, but looks and sounds (tackle store owner) like it might be a good fit for a versatile rod, is the Star Plasma model P2040C70. I searched the forums and couldn't find anything on this rod and not much on Star Plasma's in general. The price is moderate at $210. Not seeing anything in the forums has me a little worried. Please share any thoughts you have on this rod. I am also looking at the new Penn Carnage II as an option. Since that model is brand new I didn't expect to find much on it yet but appreciate any thoughts. Open to other ideas as well.

Getting up to speed on lure fishing. Very interested in bucktails and thinking about investing in a rod to be used just for .50 to 2 ounce bucktails, mostly along coast of SOCO Rhode Island. Doing my research and coming out more confused then when I started. Looked at Lami, St Croix, Tsunami, TFO and TICA, all around $200-225 or so. Thinking moderate action 9 footer as most fishing will be done on open beach. Thoughts, experience all advice is welcome. Thanks
