  1. So after a dozen school is bass and four short flounder my tsunami shield 3000 is basically shot!!! It’s clunking, grinding, a little sticky when cranking!!!! It’s driving me nuts. After several inquiries on here it seems nobody knows how to service these things? I’m sure I could get the reel to a tolerable condition if I could get inside of it and clean it grease it you know basic maintenance. Anybody have any info on how to get inside? Has anybody had theirs serviced? I know it’s only a 100 dollar reel but I’ve fished a penn fierce at 60 dollars through much much more abusive conditions than the shield has been through without these same results.
  2. I have three Fin Nor Ahab 12 Spinning reels. They are older and well used but in good shape. Two function as they should. Third one has anti-reverse gear issues which could probably be fixed fairly easily. One spare spool and two boxes as well. Looking to get 150.00 plus shipping for the lot and would think about possible trades for spinning reels in 5000 size range.
  3. I am getting ready to move and have decided to slowly move some of my gear that I don't have a use for! Here I have 2 new in box reels from Penn. I will upload pictures for them in a bit once I step away from my computer. The first one is a Penn 420 SSG that has never been taken out of the box except to look at it. It has never been fished and is just collecting dust in my basement. Its a perfect light tackle reel. Asking $55 shipped or $45 local pickup. (Live in Bristol and can travel just about anywhere in southern RI) The second reel is a Penn 4500 SS that also has never been fished. It also comes with with the original box and paperwork as well. Asking $85 shipped or $75 picked up. This reel was Made in the USA and comes stamped with that under the reel seat and the box reflects that as well. Both reels are mechanically and cosmetically 10/10, I just have no use for them and they have been sitting on a shelf for the past 5+ years! Let me know if there are any questions you need answered! Thanks guys
  4. Hey guys, I bought a penn clash 5000 at the end of last season and paired it with my 9’ mojo and it was treating me great. I caught about fifty bass up to about 18 pounds on it at the end of this season and countless cocktail bluefish. For some reason there it a bit of resistance when the line roller comes past the reel foot. It is very noticeable at slow retrieves but is gone once you start to crank faster. On faster retrieves it is still rough and the reel has gotten raspy and noisy. My battle II 4000 feels like a Daiwa compared to it now even though the clash has CNC gears. I’ve opened up the reel to check for saltwater intrusion and to regrease the gears about a dozen times and noticed nothing out of the ordinary. I took it to my local (experienced) tackle shop to get it repaired and they said it might be the rotor is not balanced. I disagree because it can be felt on the slowest of retrieves but not as much on faster ones. Any suggestions would be great.
  5. Three reels for sale. Shimano Spheros 8000FB - 20oz, good size for 10 or 11ft rod LIKE NEW, with box (and owners manual, etc). Spooled with I think 30lb powerpro. Can't find a single mark on the reel. $100 shipped Shimano Spheros 4000FA - 13oz Hardly used, excellent condition, just a couple minor scuffs on the body. Spooled with I think 20 or 30lb powerpro. Comes with original box, manual. $75 shipped Holding for John skinnier Penn Sargus 4000 - 13oz Good shape. Well used but plenty of life left. Some rock/boat rash but nothing major. Drag was upgraded to carbon, big improvement over the original. $35 shipped. PayPal preferred
  6. Used Quantum Cabo's Spinning Reels for sale/ The reels with corrosion on the reel stem are the lower priced. Well used, but good for a back up reel, for guest or kids. A little clean up and they will work great. I have spare spools. Buyer pays shipping cost. Cabo 30 - $45 Cabo 40 - $45 Cabo 30 - $55 Cabo 40 - $55
  7. Hi all, I am somewhat new to surf fishing and I have a question about Penn fishing reels. I have tried the Penn spinfisher v 4500 and the Penn Battle 4000 and 5000. When I tried out the spinfisher I noticed a distinct knock in the retrieve. I figured this was a lemon reel and I returned and bought the two battles. They both have the same issue, however it seems to be when under a load like working a spoon and somewhat rythmic. Is this just how all Penn spinning reels are? I don't think it affects performance, but while I bought the Penns for durability I would like it to be pleasurable to use as well. For what's it's worth I have an Okuma Avenger that feels smoother and does not have this problem. If anyone could comment on the Stradic that would be great too. Thank you
