  1. Got a 12/0 to go with a 60-130 rod and im a little stuck on how I should do the line. I want to do the line in a way so I don’t have to worry about fishing near rocks because I wouldn’t want to get cut off. How would I do that? Less braid more mono? Like 600 yards of braid and rest mono? Or all mono? But then I heard of all mono messing up the spool so idk. If y’all have any suggestion plz hit me with them.
  2. I started getting serious about surf fishing this season. My main goal is to start targeting sharks. I just bought an okuma solaris surf rod. 12ft heavy action. It has the ability to lob up to 16 ounces of lead. I also have a df100a on the way and some carbon washers to boot. It's nothing fancy and I still plan on getting a penn prevail or airwave rod for my bg 8000. Anyone else wanna share what they started with for surf sharks?
  3. Newcomer here. I've been catching a lot of sharks and rays from the surf and I always release them. But I was on a party boat recently and saw that people were taking them home (one of them was a Blacktip, I don't know what the others were). Do all sharks (that we can take home) taste similar? I'm 50/50 on trying it... But I guess I won't know unless I try it? I read that it's best to gut it right away and ice it to prevent it from getting too much of the ammonia scent. I guess I'll start with that.

  7. Hi, Next summer I want to try to catch some small sharks (4-6 feet) from the beach in Block Island. I was watching some videos on YouTube and the guy said that he uses an Ugly Stik Bigwater 9 foot for sharks from the beach. Do you all think this would work? The rod doesn't need to have good action or be very light or any niche things like that. I just need to be able to cast bait and a sinker out into the ocean. Ugly Stiks do have a reputation for being indestructible, and they're not too expensive. Side note - is it even possible to catch sharks from Block Island? It has to be... I just never hear or see anything about it. Thanks
