  1. I have been doing some striper fishing out of my kayak in the bay and rivers of NJ but I am not happy with the length of my rod handle. The handle portion seems too long to fish while siting in my kayak. What rod do you guys recommend for fishing back bay/river stripers & blues from a kayak?
  2. Hi All - Hoping some of you can point me in the right direction. I fish the salt 99% of the time but do some trout fishing every now and then as it's convenient and I grew up doing this type of fishing. I currently have a St Croix Premier 7' UL. It works great for bouncing worms or eggs off the bottom in rivers/streams. I went recently and started throwing some rapalas and other small (2-3") swimmers but missed every single hit. I think the rod is just too soft to set the hook. Can anyone point me to a rod or rod rating that will have more back bone to drive home a hook set but also versatile enough to throw a meal worm and a split shot? I see the Premier series offers a ML and also a M but not sure which one would be best. Also open to other rods as well. Thanks! Fluke
  3. Going to West Virginia tomorrow from New Jersey for a few days. Will have a chance at river fishing. Do you have any tips for fishing the rivers near Harper's Ferry? Specifically for bass? I never been to West Virginia before, so this will be new for me. Any tips or advice you do not mind sharing will be appreciated. Also, any safety tips I should know about since I will be camping near rivers? And any species (land and aquatic) I should look out for?
  4. I live around Philly and I know people pull stripers out of the Delaware and Schuylkill but I haven't gotten into that yet I've just been hitting the beaches in Jersey during the fall and spring runs. I really enjoy actively plugging but a lot of the guys I know that fish the river primarily use bait. Am I just talking to the wrong guys, do people plug from the bank? Same question about the Hudson in NYC. I know stripers go up that river too but I've seen mostly fish on boats not from the bank. Does anyone catch from the bank and if so are they chunking or plugging
  5. I'm brand new to stripers and I'm fishing the spring run up the ct river, I'm not looking for spot burns, I just want to know what kind of general structure is fished in the river and what tide stages I should target these types of areas on.
  6. Going to be fishing the Delaware River this year late may. I will be fishing parts of the river by Dingmans Ferry, PA and was wondering what type of bait to use, structures to fish for them (Ex: Sandy or Rocky ground,) time of day, or and advice that you can give me I will greatly appreciate it! Thank you
