  1. Good Morning! I'm recently returned from OBX and I am not a happy camper with my 30# PowerPro line performance. I was using the standard moss green power pro on my conventional surf rod, heaving around 3 to 4oz + bait. On another conventional reel I was using 30# PP Super 8 Slick with the same weight/bait. The bottom was clean/sandy with some shells. Both shots of line were BRAND NEW, installed one day prior to starting to have issues with parting off during both casting and retrieving. It was infuriating losing quite a few rigs in the surf. I was not casting for the stars, nor are any of the guides cracked or rough on either rod. I've never had any issues with PP like this unless the line was OLD and like I stated, this was all brand new line. What's everyone else's experience at present with PP? And now the real meat of what I am looking for.....what braided line should I switch to given my dissatisfaction with PP? Thx, -Buckmark22
  2. Anyone have an opinion or know the difference between these 2 braids? Ive been using the V2 and it feels nice and strong. Does anyone use both of them and can compare?

I have a new 300yrd spool of regular power pro 40lb test moss green Full 300yrd spool of superslick V1 in aqua green. 30lb test. About 280 yards of 40lb test marine blue superslick V1. An indetermined amount of 40lb superslick marine blue. Berkeley Trilene 30lb 150yrds in moss green. Package is open but it’s never been used. I think it’s a full spool, I’ve never used it. Found it in one of my boxes. Berkley mono 50lb test, 55yrds. Never opened. Selling for $55 shipped.
  5. I need to free up some cash, i have a VR50 used once. Looking for 490 shipped! Spooled with 30lb PP. Paypal accepted.
  6. Has anyone used this braid line yet? It came out about 6 months ago and I have not gotten around to trying because I'm not sure how it would hold up and how this braided line would behave. Its suppose to be thinner yet stronger and smoother then any other braided line but has anyone tested its abrasion resistance, wind knot resistance, durability, etc?
  7. I made a deal on a vs200 and should be getting it within the next few days. I am going to put it on my 10'6" St Croix Mojo MM that I picked last week. I usually use 50lb braided spiderwire or powerpro with 20-25lb mono backing. I have my penn battle and vs250 both setup like that. My question is, should I put less then 50lb braid or is that okay for the vs200? Im primarily using it to fish for Stripers and Blues in Montauk, Riis park and the surf along jersey and long island. I will be fishing around rocks and etc, so I will use a leader that I normally use in the surf. Would I be better off using a lower pound test braid to increase casting distance or should I stick with around 300yards of 50lb???
  8. So I know there are guys who do it differently. Personally I backup my reel less then half a spool with around 20# mono before putting on the 50# powerpro or spiderwire braid to my VS250 and or Penn Battle. I was just wondering what other people do because sometimes idk how much mono I should put on the reel to prior to the braid. Its rare that when fighting a fish it comes down to the knot between the mono and braid when im fishing but it happens ocasionally with a big fish that is running out. I know guys who dont back the reels at all but I havent tried that. Opinions please ?!?!
