  1. Got the 705z originally because I thought it would make a cool bucktailing reel for cobia.. later decided I needed to turn it into a 707z so I bought the 706z brand new. Both reels have sat on the shelf I put them on since purchase and I have decided while cool, its just not my style. No pictures of the 706 currently.. its literally brand new with not even a spec of dust.. if you need pics of it, I can provide them later. 130 shipped for the 705z 170 shipped for the 706z
  2. Hi all, I have a Penn 49a in its box, never been spooled, mint condition. It also has the original manual, reel lube and odds and ends. I believe they were manufactured in South Africa under license from Penn when the ledge fishermen wanted more line capacity. Can anyone confirm this?
  3. Here are 2 NIB spare spools for Penn reels 25.00 shipped. No PP Just send your check.
  4. Well I mostly enjoy doing videos of my trout trips in the fall for the big browns and steelhead of upstate NY. I decided to break out the old Go Pro for a little local jetty action for summer stripers. Overall it’s been a great year for me where I fish for numbers, however finding fish of size has been few and far between. Anyhow it’s still fun to get out and enjoy my limited time on jetty (quick trips before or after work!) Looking forward to October stripers then it’s November and up to NY and the big browns! Good luck this fall for whatever your “hunting”! Small video of the action!
  5. I have a 1983 750SS that needs a drag knob. All I see for sale are knobs for newer 750SS reels. Will these fit the 1983 model?
  6. I know that there are probably a million posts on this site about rods and reels, but I still wanted to ask everyone about them. I wanted to get a Penn Spinfisher V 4500 size and a St Croix Mojo Surf 10 foot Medium Moderate Fast. I'll be mostly fishing Block Island and Long Island during the summer for blues and stripers from the surf (maybe the occasional albie). Was thinking about 20 lb braid. Does anyone have any suggestions? The reason I picked the Spinfisher is because it has a completely enclosed case and I want it to last a while. I was looking at the Battle 2 but it has all those holes and I don't want it to get filled with sand and water. Thanks
  7. Want to sell my penn battle 2 5000 WTS any surfcasters starting out need a reel spooled 30lb Pp 50$ will throw in 10foot tsunami trophy for another 50$ locally in Massachusetts thnx
  8. Guys, I have a line on a decent Penn 712Z, cosmetically in good shape fished intermittently but not hard for past 10 years . Bail and drag work fine. Price from a fishing buddy $65. Any issues/problems I should check first. Anybody want to share their expereice over time owning this model. Thanks
  9. Story goes like this: Original new in box never used 1966 Penn 705 with instructions, tools, etc. I saw a forum not long ago about people "faking" these reels/ refurbing and calling them original for instance taking an original 706 modding it and calling it a z. 1: Is there a way to verify? and 2: If so what do I need to look for once I receive this reel? Like I said I bought this out of good faith price was fair refurbed or not but what do you guys think?
