  1. ODM glider & popper. $50 shipped. Payment via PP please.
  2. WTS a practically new shimano saragosa sw6000 that I bought new at the beginning of the season and only had 2 opportunities to use it. It’s already spoiled with over 300yds of 40lb braid. $190 and plz no tire kickers. I’m in north shore Ma and sometimes southern NH.
  3. WTS for $399 a nicely crafted custom century slingshot ss1145 built by Surfland B&T. Used the rod for maybe 1hr. It’s almost new lol. 50/50 split 9’6 3/4-3oz. I’m in north shore Ma Or occasionally southern NH.
  4. Want to have a rod built for fluking from shore and occasional casting to bluefish/ striper or albie etc. Want an 8-8.5ft max length but want a 2 piece (60-40 or 70-30 split) so I can fit it in my tdi golf easier. I tried out the Century ss1025 but it felt a little too whipey/ light and not able to throw 2- 2.5oz if needed as the rod specs say... will pair with a VR50 spooled with 17lb braid. Any thoughts on having a ss1025 blank tip cut down to like 8ft or 8'2" to make it a little stiffer to impart better action on the jig? Open to to other blank suggestions. I tried the ODM Frontier x 8ft 6 but it was too heavy (action and the factory rod build weight). The ODM DNA 9ft is a bit closer in action (however too fast maybe) but its 9ft. Thoughts on cutting the butt end down by 6 inches could be an idea perhaps? I want to be able to throw 1/4oz -2.5 with the primary range of 1/2oz -2. Last I heard about the Weapon... are they all 1pc though? I just got a Star VPR (pictured below) and fished Jersey with it last week. Right weighted rod for the vr50 but action was a bit heavier than I would like. Cheers

  7. Hey guys, first time poster here, long time fisherman. Born and raised on Cape Cod, I’ve been fishing for over 20 years, 10 of which I’d consider “serious”, and figured I’d try to make my first post here somewhat interesting and informative. * This past spring I had contacted Lou Caruso about a potential build for an all-around Cape Cod Canal rod. Something similar to a Slingshot 1328 (which I had already owned). Lou being Lou is much more in tune with new companies and the quality of the blanks being released. I told him what I’d be looking for out of a rod, what I threw for plugs/jigs/Swimmers etc, and Lou turned me onto ODM, specifically the 11’ 4-10oz Jigster. He spoke of the incredibly wide range this blank can throw, its ability to lean on fish in the tide, and he thought it would be a perfect fit for what I was looking for. I didn’t want be that guy with 17 rods in his bike, and really wanted to narrow it down to just 2-3 max (one being a lighter schoolie/albie setup). Rated for up to 33 pounds of drag and 4-10oz lures I was expecting this blank to be a heavy telephone pole, and frankly had my doubts. I contacted CMS and had the opportunity to throw their 10’ model with a variety of my stuff, and immediately put a build into place. So after being paired with a Saltiga 6500h, over the next 2 months of fishing I would throw everything from SP minnows (the 1 7/8oz salt pro) to 7.5 oz. Bill Hurley’s (paddle tail included), and even an 8 oz trolling stick shad, jigging, plugging, and taking fish up to 44 pounds in moontides, I can say without question this blank is incredible. I own Century rods, Lamiglas, Cousins/Ron Arra, St. Croix, and TFO and you can see me fishing them in any of my videos. This was the first time I felt compelled to make a video about a product just to show people what it could do. It’s not a technical video, just casting a multitude of plugs and jigs before showing the Jigster take down a #35 on a 3 oz pencil. Don’t let the name fool you, this is not a jigging only rod. A big thanks to CMS for doing such quality work, the seamless transitions and wrapping done is beautiful. So take the video for what it’s worth. This is directed mainly at my fellow canal rats as another potential option to consider. I look forward to becoming a contributing member of this forum!
  8. Hey guys, so I recently got into rod building this past winter. I built a ODM jigster 11’ 4-10 oz and I have been using it so far this season at the canal. I love the rod. very versatile rod but i love it especially for jigging. looking to build another rod that can do both jigging and top water. anyone have recommendations? i was looking at the Surfmachine elite 11’ 2-8 oz or a black hole just for jigging. I have attached some pictures of my jigster below.
  9. Hi guys, Long time reader of this forum and the time has come to seek for advice. Don't beat me up right away, since i have already used a search function in order to find the best fishing rod for the Canal. Basically have two questions: 1. I am looking for a spinning rod that could be a good fit for the PENN Slammer 3 6500 High Speed. I am primarily looking for jigging, throwing jerkbaits, maybe even throwing chunks from the surf occasionally, with the least priority given to the topwater lures. Is there any rod that is multifunctional and does everything not perfect, but just good? Anything in 2-8 oz range. 10-12Ft. Budget: $350. I currently use 9ft Star stellar 1-4 oz fast, but this is definitely not enough to make long casts on the Canal. I have stopped my choice on St. Croix Mojo Surf and St. Croix Avid Surf, but i have seen a lot of debates on perfect rod for the Canal and there are a lot of opinions about my choice being not a very reliable one. People seem to give their favor mostly to everything from ODM Jigster, TFO, Star Paraflex, XSRA 1205, Tsunami Airwave Elite to 600$+ custom made poles. But unfortunately, i can not try every single rod and learn from mistakes, especially by spending seasons of trial and error and thousands of dollars). Please advice! 2. I would also love to hear any comments on SLAMMER 3 6500 HIGH SPEED as well, since i haven't seen a soul using it on the Canal. Seems to be a really good reel with an amazing retrieve rate (48 inches per crank!). Which reels are competitors to this one? (besides Saragosa) Thank you very much for any advice in advance, truly appreciate it.
  10. Greetings! I am in search of a high-end plug bag (Gear Up, Flatlander, ODM) to get my season moving in the right direction. My three slot Supreme is no longer cutting it (it served a valiant tour of duty). If anyone is willing to part ways, I am paying! tight lines

  13. Hey guys, I live near pacifica on the San Mateo county coast, I have a 10’-6” 3/4-4oz ODM Frontier X, im looking for suggestions on what reel you guys would recommend I pair it with for this upcoming surf striper season. I’ve been doing some homework and looking at all the forums, and with the new year comes new gear so the one thing besides waders and lures im going to buy is a new reel, not looking to spend a fortune but also nothing cheap, maybe $150-$500 range (i know its a little much for our weat coast stripeds but I will be going to mexico for surf fishing as well) least this justifies my spending to myself thanks for the help.

  16. Does anyone have any experience with both of these rods? I'm looking for a rod for next year for all ranges at the canal. If anyone has any input, I'd appreciate it.
  17. Relatively new to the surf and am looking for a heavy-action conventional rod for chunking in the surf. Preferably 10-foot plus and 10oz rated, but open to investigate. Looking for a used rod, but certainly prefer high-quality. Located in Mass. but can pay for shipping. Excited to give this a try.

  19. Hey Fellas , I'm looking to get into the 9' ODM Genesis 1/2-3 , But i can't bring myself to do it until i hear what the sweetspot is on this rod. I'm gonna be throwing doa shrimp and xraps all the way up to 1 1/2 oz ,also superstrikes to 2 3/8 oz when the fish are far away. Distance is everything for me where i fish. Ibeen away for over a year or so it feels good to be back on sol...
  20. While @Lou T and I were having a conversation via PM, I asked him if he’d be willing to give me a brief description in his own words of a few of the ODM blanks. Things like what roles they would fit into within the spectrum of surfcasting, individual characteristics of each blank’s action, casting performance, working different plug types, fish fighting capabilities, and how he believes certain models could compliment others etc etc. Lou felt like this was an opportunity to answer questions that are commonly presented to him by many others, and because he has first hand knowledge of all the blanks listed below, we decided to make our conversation something accessible for those people as well. @Lou T will chime in below when he gets a chance to answer the above questions. On a personal note Lou, I’d love to hear your thoughts of how each blank could compliment the 11’ 4-10oz Jigster I own, taking into account that I fish the canal about 70% of the time, with open beach and Jetty being the other 30%. Below are the blanks I’m currently interested in (Jigster not included because I own one but thought others may benefit). I know this is not the complete ODM lineup in terms of weight ratings, but I’m sure @ODM or Lou would be willing to answer any questions regarding specific sub-models. Thanks guys! 22. Hey guys, Starting this thread to see if I can get any input from guys that have owned/own/thrown an ODM NEX1 11’ 2-6oz one piece. After talking with a few rod builders, it sounds like it would suit my needs nicely for throwing plugs in the ditch and surrounding Cape Beaches. I’m a big fan of moderate action rods, and from what I’ve gathered the NEX1 has a nice flexible tip for throwing pencils and plugs, while still having the ability to bend right down to around the stripper guide. I’m also keen on hearing about how the NEX1 loads during the cast as well as what I’ve heard in a regards to fish fighting (ability to lock up about halfway down the blank giving it solid power whereas something like a 1321-m will bend through the reel seat.) And finally, how would the NEX1 fare beside the current popular Mod-Fast/Fast action (i.e. SS1327 which I currently own) canal plugging rods of similar size and rating when it comes to reaching the fish when necessary? Thanks in advance for any input! P.S. If you’ve only used the 10’ 1-5oz gladly chime in! All input is welcome!

  25. Looking for an upgrade to a 9ft st croix triumph surf. Most of my fishing is back bay and i prefer to fish lighter tackle. My go to lure for the summer is 2 oz tins and supplement that with pencils and the occasional sp or mag darter, For fall and spring its 1/2-3/4oz jig heads and zooms. Anyone with experience on the 9ft genesis and its tins/plugging ability. Ive had my hands on one and casted one about a year ago but haven't heard much lately especially on the 9'. any other rods fit the bill for a lighter 9' surf rod?
