Was wondering if anyone who fishes ocean county beaches has experimented with bigger gear/distance casting approach more associated with OBX? Any of the guys who have been fishing these parts for decades think it's times to consider such a shift in approach? Conventional wisdom down here about fish being close when they're around and 8-9 footers being plenty of rod still hold somewhat true but it feels less so at times.. Anyway, just wondering if anyone has had the courage/audacity to walk down an NJ beach with a 13 footer yet and if you feel like it has made a difference in your success rate.. Mostly stripers and blues in mind here...and both heavy chunking and big poppers in mind as well.

Finished out my 2018 season with some nice fish out front on Sunday fishing with Gary and Chris. We spent the morning dodging the fleet to snag some bunker to live line. Had two nice fish landed up to 27lbs. Now it’s time to put away kayak till next season and waiting for the new baby boy to come.

Just hanging getting the morning going with coffee and thinking fishing. After equipment failures on an old used yak , I'm beginning to think of going big.... If I buy a new ( or used) yak for the ocean- Should it be foot peddling or oar? Hobie, Wilderness, Ocean? Is this a Canon vs Nikon thing? As in , personal tastes or is there an industry standard? And Stealth???? Saw a video and all the gear is loaded below so if you take a spill you lose nothing.
