  1. Hey guys, I have been searching the forum and have found lots of threads on different recommendations for lenses. I have a pair of old Maui Jims model now discontinued (Shoreline MJ114) that I loved the clarity of the lens and neutral tone of the grey lens. Over time the lens cracked, sent to MJ, but they didn't have replacement lenses. They are still usable but there is a crack which doesn't impede vision Last year I bought a pair of Costas Blue mirror 580G WhiteTip. With these I felt the color popped a bit more towards reddish/copper in a pleasant way. Last month I dropped them and one of the lenses cracked, now unusable Fit with the MJs was a bit more comfy I think, but both have their niche uses. So my question is regarding replacement lenses Are there OEM replacement for the MJs? I have found Revant and Fuse replacement and lenses for the both, but seem to be polycarbonate, CDM has 580G lenses for 100$ on their website Any preferences vs the original glass ones? I am a bit of a snob for good quality VISION (not brands) and I love the glass on both Thanks
  2. Have for sale a pristine telephoto lens, the Nikon AF-S 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR. This is an exceptional wildlife lens for its price. I am looking for $900 cash + Shipping (around $25). I don't have images of its lens elements at this time but will take some this weekend and upload here. Take my word for it, they are in fantastic condition, no scratches, dust, fungus or anything of that matter. I babied this thing and it has produce some excellent shots for me. The VR on this is considered one of the best VRs Nikon has made. Check out Ken Rockwell's review of this lens, you won't be disappointed.
  3. Just broke my sunglasses. Before buying new, what says this forum about makes, models, lens color, etc.? 90% of my fishing is from shore and often in dawn/dusk hours...but these will be for general everyday use, too. Thanks,in advance.
  4. ok apologies if this has been hashed out elsewhere, just saw this forum and figured 'what the heck'. Got a D5200 last year, the default lens was like a 28-70mm, bought a 80-300mm, and a fixed lens (50mm something... don't have the camera with me at the moment) I can take some decent pictures with it, but can't seem to get to that awesome-ness that seems possible with a camera like this. Yes, I know most of the problem is between my ears, but I'm also looking for a better quality lens, zoom lens in particular. Wondered what Nikon D... owners thought were good lenses? Second question is how the heck can I take a halfway decent picture of the moon, say for this question standalone in the sky. Not, for example, the double exposed type photoshopped image of the moon in behind a lighthouse / whatever. I'm just talking about getting a viewable image of the moon, and not just some white circle. I've got a tripod, and my existing Nikor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED IF AF-S lens? Thanks... and if you don't feel like typing, pointers to helpful references for both would be much appreciated !!
