Have to load software update on new unit on robalo 20. Great unit but in dash so have to access from the CC and requires a micro SD card. Card slot seems big for this, but customer service assures me it will fit. Any advice before I open up the back of the cc to diy this?

There’s always a catch with something free. It’s missing the mount that gets connected to the boat or kayak and the plastic transducer mount. Comes with all wiring and the transducer. Everything worked when I disconnected it. Must be picked up, I’m just outside of Philadelphia. I have no use for it anymore and I’d like to see this ending up with someone who will actually use it.

I have this radio. I bought it last year and it was during the summer so I did not study the manual but used it to listen to bar conditions and monitored the coast guard. This radio has a gps but no plotter. It has a built in gps antenna in the radio but has very little range. It does however have the ability to mark waypoints. I was reading in the manual and think I read that it will mark waypoints itself. I am wondering if any of you have this radio. What I would like to do is follow another boat out to a reef where they catch ling cod and rock bass. I think I might be able to follow another boat and the radio would mark waypoints all the way out with out doing it manually I think the book called it pinning. Can this be done or do I have to mark waypoints myself on the way out to the reef?

I've got the SIMRAD GO7 XSE and I'm looking to upgrade my maps, and I'm not sure which to choose. I'll be using it in the northeast coastal waters, mostly fishing NJ bays, inlets, ocean. Does anyone have experience with the Navionics Platinum? I think this is my current choice. What about the Insight/Genesis/GoFree stuff? Any other recommendations?

A few months ago, I was looking at upgrading to a newer FF/Chartplotter. Went with the Lowrance Elite 7 Chirp. It was the right price and had all of the features I wanted, and I've always liked the Lowrance products I've used. I have read the the chartplotter function can perform slow sometimes because of an underpowered processor but I was willing to take the risk. Fast forward to now, and I see Lowrance has a totally new line out that looks very similar to the Elite series. Sifting through all the marketing jargon, I can't seem to find the difference between the Elite series and the Hook series. The Hook 7 is the same price the Elite I bought so I'm thinking about making the exchange. Anyone have any experience with the new Hook series? Can anyone make out the difference between the two models? Might just be a rebranding of the unit. I always see that Garmin just came out with the Striker series, combo units in the same price range as the Hook. Anyone know anything about this?
