  1. Some of us struggle to interpret what we see on our FF, and thought a thread on the subject would be interesting. I've got at least 1/2 doz interesting shots, here's one. Anybody want to take a crack at what's going on here? This is on the edge of a Raritan Channel the last week in June. Is that blues or adult bunker on the bottom? I figured it's small baitfish in midwater.
  2. Suggestions for FF/GPS? All these screen shots and talk have reminded me once again that my Hummingbird is outdated. I have a 597 ci HD down imagining though I never got the DI to really work. Anyway, I'd like a unit that excepts Navonics maps, has GPS, DI and side scan, is easy to use and has good screen imaging (CHIRP ?). Interaction with my phone/computer would be nice too. Seems like most of you are using Garmen. I fish mostly water 50 feet or less, though will go up to 100 feet. Lots of bottom fishing, but stripers too. I have 17' CC but may upgrade to a 20-21' in a few years, maybe sooner. I'm willing to spend a few bucks as I want a good unit, but I'd rather not spend over $800 unless there was a very good reason. Ideally it is portable so I can take it off the boat when not fishing. Thoughts?
