My typical setup consists of braid to a mono or flouro leader connected with an FG or uni-to-uni knot. I always try to keep the length of my leader short enough, never more than 4 feet and typically 30 to 36 inches, so that so my knot never traverses any guides on my rod. Since I am setting up that way, what are the pros and cons of using a barrel swivel between my braid and leader instead of a line to line knot? Thanks.

Hi, The spools of some of my reels have had braid added to them either to top them of after loosing line from a snag or windknots. ...or some are actually spooled intentionally with leftover spools of line, maybe 2-3 connections max. I always connect braid to braid with a double uni-knot, making 10 wraps with each line. I generally use 30lbs braid so the 2 x 10 wraps are not that big of a deal, but I can see it could become a big hunk of line using higher breaking strengh braid. Sometimes, If I actually top off a spool, I'll remove the braid afterwards and repsool it the other way around so that the knot is as far as possible from the first 100 yds of line or so. So.... I don't think I ever had the chance of testing any of these connections with drag pulling fish. I'm not sure 100%, but I don't think I ever even reach 20lbs of drag setting. I don't know if I'm doing the right thing with these connection knots. Don't have enough field experience with them... They are pretty simple so this is why it's my go-to connection. Any body else makes this 10 wraps double uni-knot? How well does it do against drag pulling fish? I tried to find an already published tread but I did knot (see what I did there?). Thanks for all input,
