We were out Friday night on the jetties and Saturday on the boat and inshore is covered with sand sharks. We were snagging them by accident vertical jigging, they were hitting AVAs, we were snagging them trolling, we'd drag one in and there'd be one or two following them to the boat. Like I said "covered". I assume it's mating season, I just don't ever remember catching so many of them on lures(any?). There was a guy I saw who was keeping them if you can believe that. He must have had half a dozen chunking. Also caught my 1st shad jigging an A17...I just thought it was weird, anyone else seeing this?

There is mention in the shark fishing thread of the use of dogfish as bait for bigger sharks. The late Matt Ahern wrote, in the Long Island Fisherman, of using strips of dogfish (might've been belly strips, I'm not sure anymore) as a bait for big fluke. Anybody using dogfish as bait for anything else? For that matter, anyone following ol' Matt's example and using them for strip baits for fluke?

Hey all, Was wondering if anyone's ever tried using trash fish like Sea robins or Dogfish as bait for Blues and Bass? Would certainly be helpful on those days when the bunker chunks are running low, or no longer stay on the hook! I've heard of people using snapper blues, as well as robins, for catching fluke. So the idea is not too far out. Thanks.
