  1. Has anyone successfully used cork split grips on a parabolic jigging rod like a blackhole 350/450? Going to be building a 350 as a spinning rod with MN guides and was thinking about cork but worried about cracking.
  2. I got this brainstorm and I think it will be reality unless one of you knowledgeable folks steer me straight. I want another 7ft rod, but 2 pc. My current trusty rod is a old TideMaster 7' MHF. So I went looking at the Century site and I see the Weapon Jr 2 pc options, they have a 7' unit. The factory rods have them funny grips; I'm old fashioned and like my cork ring grips, so my thoughts are to have one done up as such. Anyone see any flaws in my thinking? I know the cork is expensive, and not trendy, but I always come back to it for some reason and I don't see that changing if I buy another rod with grip other than cork.
  3. One of my rods has the cork tape coming unbuttoned. Any shops at the cape that can re wrap the tape on with short notice? I got the tape wrapped on with some thread as a quick temp fix.
  4. Building a two-handled fly rod on a tip cut 13' Batson R6 4 pc blank as a 1st venture into TH fly fishing & got a couple of questions. Any problems with using MH's CM18 Straight EVA Grip material - I can get both front & rear grips out of 1 piece Red/green speaks of using syncork, tho at 4,5 x the price of the EVA + work ... A cork setup also 4,5 x the EVA price, but minimal work. Stripper seems to now layout @ ~27" from reel center PS: Working up to Red/Green's
  5. Greetings, I have recently acquired a Harnell Fly Rod, Cigar shaped Cork handle, Black hollow Fiberglass, 8ft 6inches, 7 guides, 2 piece and original green bag. No Model or Serial #. It only has the Harnell logo from Santa Monica, California. After reading blogs, posts all over, I have only seen one other person post a photo of this vintage fly rod. I have read the stories about the Harnell/Harrington Co, Jean Harrington, in business/not in business. The move to Venice (which I thought was California at first) Florida and so on.. I am certain this old Harnell Rod is of serious value! Would anyone be willing to help me find more info and perhaps a buyer!? I also have a Heddon Pal, #30-7 1/2 D or E, 10 guides, not sure the year. See Photos attached..
