Anyone ever troll tubes for cobia? I'm gonna give it a shot off my kayak down in obx next week with the hogy SI tubes I've caught plenty of blues on. I've never caught a cobia and they're my #2 bucket list fish (behind tuna - any species), so any tips on trolling tubes for them, or cobia fishing in general would be much appreciated. I've only seen one in VA, while fishing for sheep, it was just hanging out and wouldn't eat anything my buddy or I threw at it. There are a few shoals and troughs I intend to troll around, heard slack tide is best, but again any other info is appreciated. And if you've got any spots to launch to target cobia in NC, that would be reachable by kayak, that would be much appreciated! I know that's asking a lot and feel free to pm spots you don't want to just share to the general forum. Thanks everyone!

Anything off the shelf come to mind for an 8 foot 2 piece heavy action surf spinning rod? Throwing 3-5 oz bucktails from a pier to Cobia. Using a Musky spinning rod currently. It’s stiff enough but rear handle too short. Thx

Hey all, I will be staying in Corolla July 13-20. I have limited experience fishing from the sand, but am planning on fishing hard this year. In the past I have usually just found a quiet section of beach near the house and thrown out cut bait near a rip, and thrown spoons on light tackle anytime I see blues on top close to shore. I would like to try to get into some mature bluefish, cobia, mackerel, sharks etc. I'm taking the kayak with me this year and was planning on paddling baits out past the breakers. I have been told to look for changes in water color/clarity, and drop offs etc. any other input? What baits have you had success with in the past? Cut vs. live? Chum bag? What's your preferred rig? Also, do I have any real shot at catching fish up north in Corolla? I have usually stayed in Waves in the past, and fished there, and a couple times at the inlet. Do I need to make the trip down south to give myself a shot? Thanks everyone,

Cobia fishing in South Chesapeak and Norfolk Area
AdamHJeep posted a topic in DelMarVa Fishing Forum
Just watched some cool videos on Cobia fishing out of Norfolk in the South Chesapeake around the Bay Bridge Tunnel. Never new that was a thing casting eels to schools of rays for cobia this far north. Looking to do this this summer. Any tips on timeframes in the summer season for this? Charter recomendations?- 6 replies
