  1. Well it’s been awhile since I posted anything (originally I was mfishter). I’m not one whom likes to post though I thought I would share with you my wife’s 1st decent sized catch from the surf! We had a great trip to Cabo San Lucas for her birthday. We fished 6 days, all on the beach. 2 days were epic (for us). During those 2 days we hooked 14 dorado and only managed to bring 4 onto the beach! In fact, the dorado she caught was on her birthday! We would hook them, fight them for a while, they jump and shake their heads typically throwing the lure. I spoke with Wesley the local surf fishing guide and he has switched to the “old” style of Cabo Killers for dorado which have the line through the lure rather than the “fixed” steel wire. Apparently his catch ratio has gone up dramatically from using this type of set-up though does make you vulnerable to the toothy fish like needlefish and sierra which I also caught. I should have done this for day 2 but I was lazy (I did have some lures I could have converted). As for the details, I was using a 13’ surf rod with a Daiwa Saltist 6500 with 40lb Power Pro and my wife was using a Breakaway Omega 10’ 6” also with a Daiwa Saltist 6500 with 40lb Power Pro. I hooked the majority of my fish on a 3oz blue/white Cabo Killer and my wife used a 2.5oz blue/white Cabo Killer. We fished mornings on the Pacific side of Cabo. The bite seemed to pick up as the sun hit the water. Overall a great birthday for her and a great break prior to the busy Holidays! Enjoy and Happy Holidays!
