I want to expand my horizons when it comes to early back bay fishing for bass with lures. The past several years I have looked to fish tidal flats that drain to 1-2’ at low and are 3-5’ at high also they have a nice current. The only issue I’ve had is that I don’t have any confidence that I will find anything over 25”. Early season how do you target the larger fish, do they hold on different structure? I usually do well by April fishing needlefish at night in similar areas described and catch up to 30” at night only. Early March what are the optimal circumstances (structure wise) to find a striper 25”+?

Hi there fellow Jersey anglers, I'm not asking for any specifics, im just curious. Has there been any luck catching white perch in the back bays yet? It's over an hour drive for me so I'm just wondering if it's worth the trip. If not I'll just continue trying for flounder right down the road from me lolol.

I think I need a lesson in casting with my lightweight outfits, It’s pretty frustrating. I, for the past two years have been fishing a daiwa bg 6k (lures)or a penn fierce 6k (chunking) on my penn prevail 2 piece, with 30lb braid and 50 lb braid respectively. And I feel like I could cast a country mile with relative ease. Fast forward to buying a light weight outfit I use off the boat or back bays daiwa ballistic 4K and a mojo inshore 7’6 mhf and I feel like I’m a child learning all over again. I’m not using heavy plugs or overloading the rod with weight but staying within the rods recommended range . I generally cast 1/4oz jig heads with jerk shads for fluke , maybe swim baits or small storm shad or savage gear sand eels if I think there’s some strippers around and the And the occasional top water think spook jrs. Small sp minnows Ect. But I feel like I’m throwing mortars every other cast. Any advise boys?

Just looking to get some reviews, what makes this a “backbay edition”? Is the butt end shorter? Anybody have a picture of the full rod? Cant seem to find one online. Is the tip fast? I plan to pair it with a stradic FL 5000 for the bay. Thanks!

So I've been head high in work the last week and need to catch up on some fishing. Thinking about taking an after work trip in the back bay for some light gear sharking fishing Wednesday after work around 6pm till dusk.

Just got a sweet vsb100 trying to find two rods for it. One for the kayak in the 6'-6". To 7. M. Or mh action. And one 8-9' for fluking outfront and deep wading in the marshes. Anyone wanna sell something or suggest anything to look for.
