Does anyone own/know about the Tica Striper Collector series rods? My local shop has a WIGA70MH2S (7ft MH, 2peice) on clearance for $40 and it seems like a cool little rod. Rated 3/4-3oz and has a nice longer butt section. I don't particularly need it but..... well I don't think I need to explain

Hi guys, Been looking for some feedback on this Tica Tc2 UEHA532002S 10'6'' Medium-Heavy rod rated 1-3oz. I only found threads about either people looking for one or also looking for some feedback. I want to know about first hand experiences with this rod. Reel pairing and actual lure weight ratings. How does it hold up? I already have this rod actually, received it yesterday. I'm just not sure what to think about the feel of it. I find it a bit whippy all the way to the butt. Purchased it to cast light lures mag darters, SP minnows, bucktails, etc. Could I do pencil popping with a 6 or 7'' cordell whit this? Don't know, you tell me. It does balance perfectly with my Penn Conflict II 6k LC (18.5oz).

Tica UGSA80M2S Dolphin Surf Spin Fish Rod, 8-Feet , 2-Piece, ,1/2 to 2 oz, 6-17 lb Tica UGSA-90M2S Dolphin Surf Spin Rod, 9-Feet, 2-Piece, 1/2 to 3 oz, 10-25 lb Stellar Lite Fast Taper SG1220FT80 Spinning 12-20 lb, 1/2 - 1 1/2 oz, 8' 1 pc. Med-Heavy Stellar Lite Fast Taper SG1525FT80 Spinning 15-25 lb, 5/8 - 2 oz, 8' , 1 pc.Heavy Looking for a spinning rod for my BG 4000 to fish the san fransico bay for stripers and grubing for perch and schoolie stripers in the surf. I throw mostly 1/2 oz size hair raisers , swimbaits and kastmasters in the bay but also throw SP minnows. In the surf it will be 1/2 to 1oz lead on carolina rig for perch and 1/2 to 2 oz hair raiser, swimbaits and metal for stripers. I have not found the rods above locally to see how they feel and would like to know how close to lure ratings are these rods. For the bay most of what I throw will be 1/2 to 3/4 oz and in the surf 3/4 to 1 1/2 oz. Does any of the rods above stand out over the others? I do like that the Ticas are 2 pc but the stellars may be higher quality rod. The "concept system" on the stellar fast tapers concerns me in a store bought rod as it can't be matched to my BG 4000. Thanks for any and all input. Craig

Getting up to speed on lure fishing. Very interested in bucktails and thinking about investing in a rod to be used just for .50 to 2 ounce bucktails, mostly along coast of SOCO Rhode Island. Doing my research and coming out more confused then when I started. Looked at Lami, St Croix, Tsunami, TFO and TICA, all around $200-225 or so. Thinking moderate action 9 footer as most fishing will be done on open beach. Thoughts, experience all advice is welcome. Thanks

Announcing the 12th Annual Berkeley Striper Club Spring Catch & Release Striped Bass Tournament. This will be our second year in a Catch and Release format for this tournament and the 6th event that the BSC has run as a C&R tournament, dating back to 2011. We are excited to be holding this event again to support our club’s Fisheries Defense Fund. All of the profits generated through this C&R tournament go towards the BSC’s Fisheries Defense Fund which is designed to fund efforts that focus on effective management of striped bass, help provide a clean and productive habitat, and to protect important forage fish in the goal of enhancing our recreational fisheries. This past year we have made significant donations to Stripers Forever, The Coastal Conservation Association of Maryland, the Jersey Coast Anglers Association, Save Barnegat Bay and Monmouth University’s “Stripers for the Future” research, a study funded 100% by the BSC to assess the physiology of air exposed striped bass and develop recommendations of maximum time out of water for released fish. All told, we have donated over $38,000 in the past 11 years to organizations dedicated to the preservation of striped bass. Tournament dates run from May 29, 2015 to June 6, 2015. The awards ceremony will be June 7th at the Seaside Park Municipal Court Room starting at 2:00 and running to approximately 3:30. As we did last year, we will have two categories, one for surf, and one for boat. These are essentially run as two separate tournaments, so the surf caught fish are and boat caught fish are not competing against each other. As with last year, we will also have a grand prize that will be awarded by random drawing. You will not even have to enter a fish to win the grand prize. This year is a CTS 11’ Vapor Trail rod and Van Staal 200 X-Series reel, and a Pelican 45 quart cooler. We also have prizes for the surf and boat categories, generously donated from our sponsors such as Pelican, Tica, Stormr, Penn, Rh Custom Rods, Minn Kota, Grumpy’s Bait & Tackle, FiberStar, Superstrike Lures, Fisherman’s Supply, Daiwa, Kast, The Reel Seat, Tsunami, and many others. prize lists for both categories are below At the awards ceremony on Sunday, June 7th, we will be giving away over $10,000 in prizes. New this year, ONLINE REGISTRATION! No need to mail checks, show up at a weigh station to sign up, or chase down a tournament committee member anymore, though those will still be options to sign up if you so choose. To sign up online, you will need a PayPal account. Go to the link in our poster above. From that page click the “BSC C&R Spring Tournament” link and then follow the instructions on that page. Please make sure you read the tournament rules carefully, as they include instructions on how to submit a fish for the tournament. Thanks again for everyone's continued support. (Note to board admins, TimS gave his blessing for this post. Thanks Tim)
