  1. Hi, I broke the tip of my TFO rod and I was wondering if anyone replaced their rod with the warranty and how did you do it? I purchased my rod from Tomos tackle in salem, MA and I still have the receipt. Can I just go back to Tomos tackle show the receipt and get a replacement or do I have to go through TFO customer service? any feedback would help. thanks!
  2. Hi guys, Long time reader of this forum and the time has come to seek for advice. Don't beat me up right away, since i have already used a search function in order to find the best fishing rod for the Canal. Basically have two questions: 1. I am looking for a spinning rod that could be a good fit for the PENN Slammer 3 6500 High Speed. I am primarily looking for jigging, throwing jerkbaits, maybe even throwing chunks from the surf occasionally, with the least priority given to the topwater lures. Is there any rod that is multifunctional and does everything not perfect, but just good? Anything in 2-8 oz range. 10-12Ft. Budget: $350. I currently use 9ft Star stellar 1-4 oz fast, but this is definitely not enough to make long casts on the Canal. I have stopped my choice on St. Croix Mojo Surf and St. Croix Avid Surf, but i have seen a lot of debates on perfect rod for the Canal and there are a lot of opinions about my choice being not a very reliable one. People seem to give their favor mostly to everything from ODM Jigster, TFO, Star Paraflex, XSRA 1205, Tsunami Airwave Elite to 600$+ custom made poles. But unfortunately, i can not try every single rod and learn from mistakes, especially by spending seasons of trial and error and thousands of dollars). Please advice! 2. I would also love to hear any comments on SLAMMER 3 6500 HIGH SPEED as well, since i haven't seen a soul using it on the Canal. Seems to be a really good reel with an amazing retrieve rate (48 inches per crank!). Which reels are competitors to this one? (besides Saragosa) Thank you very much for any advice in advance, truly appreciate it.

  6. So I just picked up a new TFO 11' .5 - 2.0oz rod. Looking to pair with a nice, relatively in-expensive, reel. My head is spinning. Every time I think I've narrowed it down, I find something else. This being my first lighter weight setup for throwing sp's and stuff, I'm also torn if I should go 30# or 40# braid route. The rod is light, 11.4oz, so I want to keep the reel under 16oz max. Slammer III 4500: 14.7oz : 250yds 30#: 30 drag Daiwa BG 4000: 14.3oz: 280yds 30#, 200yds 40#: 17.6 drag -- I like the 4500 better, but 22oz weight: 22 drag Spinfisher 4500: 15.40oz: 200yds 30# Anything else in the sub $250 range?

  14. Sierra Trading has the Temple Fork 2 piece conversion handle for the TiCr and TiCrx rods (7wt or 8w) for sale. Probably the last time you will see these. I have the conversion for the 7wt TiCrx and 7wt TiCr. Apparently it will also adapt the 6wt TiCrx as well as the 10' TFO 7 wt professional (earlest version). Elsewhere the conversion kit is marked down to $130. Sierra has it for $80.

  16. I have a used TFO for sale. Purchased last winter and used sparingly this past season. When I did use it it was mostly plugging the beach, but did eel the canal with it a few times (never jigged). Rod is in very good-excellent condition with a few minor surface scratches in the usual spots. Reel seat and guides in very good-excellent condition. $150 cash pick up/meet up only. I live on the south Shore MA and travel to Central MA frequently.
  17. Hello everyone, Backstory - I'm looking for a "general" surf rod that needs to be able to break down to travel size so I can(easily) take it everywhere I might go. Primarily fishing off NC coast though. Stumbled across the 8'8 MAG Med heavy 4 peice Loomis inspired/designed by TFO. However, can find little if any information about this rod. It also appears to be discontinued by TFO. Anyone used it? General opinions on TFO? says its rated for 1-4ounce. I considered the triumph travel but seems its a little on the lighter side, perhaps this rod is the same.
  18. For sale or possibly trade is a great light, small stream set up that I purchased earlier this year and just did not get much use out of. 8'6 BVK 5wt and an Abel super 3n large arbor reel. The rod is in great condition, and the reel is in like new condition. Reel also comes with 20 lb backing but no line. I am located in NY on LI and would greatly prefer to meet in person. Asking $580 for the pair.
  19. Does anyone have the 11' tfo with 1/2-2 ounce lure rating? I have handled one, though I haven't test cast one. Any reviews would help. Thanks
  20. Wanted to sell tfo surf rod 10'6", 2-6 casting weight. Blue blank model. Great canal rod. Rod is nearly new condition with exception of tiny tear in shrink wrap near handle. I can meet on cape or canal for pickup. May ship in extreme case but buyer pays for packing materials and shipping (about $30 more). $150
  21. I'm selling a 9-foot 8-wt TFO Mangrove series fly rod that is 4-piece and includes the original rod sock. The was purchased this year and is in great condition overall with no scratches and cork is clean as it was only used a handfull of times. Located on Cape Cod if you want to test it out. Price is $195 plus shipping/paypal. Thanks for looking.
  22. Up for sale is a brand new tfo BVK 8 wt 5 piece fly rod. This has never even been out of case at all. This is perfect for travel or keeping in your car. I bought it brand new from Stillwater a couple months ago for 349.99 I am asking 275 shipped or 260 picked up in Baltimore MD 21221. Thanks for looking and thanks STripersonline
  23. There is a TFO Pandion on sale (listed at ~$175) on the big auction site. 13'9" 9wt Pandion to be exact. Could be a store demo or a return. Looks new but I would ask about that. Also on that same site is a single brand new in box TFO Large Arbor 425 reel (10-12w) in gold for the same price. That reel has a very strong carbon fiber disk drag, holds alot of backing for a large arbor reel of its size, and is relatively easy to maintain (not sealed but few moving parts, and you can order replacement drag pads and bearings from TFO). I am not affiliated with either seller. I just saw both and am passing this on. I would grab this but have waayyy too much gear. --Killie
  24. Getting up to speed on lure fishing. Very interested in bucktails and thinking about investing in a rod to be used just for .50 to 2 ounce bucktails, mostly along coast of SOCO Rhode Island. Doing my research and coming out more confused then when I started. Looked at Lami, St Croix, Tsunami, TFO and TICA, all around $200-225 or so. Thinking moderate action 9 footer as most fishing will be done on open beach. Thoughts, experience all advice is welcome. Thanks
