  1. As for modifications and upgrades, some anglers may choose to upgrade elements such as the handle and drag washers to improve the reel's performance. However, any modifications or upgrades should be made with caution - as they could potentially cause damage to the reel if not done properly. It's essential to consult a professional or a trusted fishing gear retailer if you have any questions or concerns about modifying or upgrading your fishing reel.
  2. Shimano Torium 16 HG star drag conventional reel Took out to the boat ONCE but never fished on it. Consider the reel is new. There is a tiny smudge on the reel from storing on the rod rack. Barely noticeable. Comes with a mounting bracket. Spooled with 40lb braided line. No Original box. I am willing to trade for Torium 14HG. $180 Shipped along the East Coast, add $10 elsewhere.
  3. Hello fellow anglers Im new to forum as a member but have been following along for years now, my question is does anyone know where I can find the schematic for the fth 2 15sd? I have looked at the Penn site but all they have posted is the first gen Fathom 15sd with the centrifugal break and not the second gen 15sd with the mag break? Thanks for looking and any help is appreciated much, Tight lines friends,, Dutch...
  4. I purchased this reel in May, 2017 at $450 from TD. I've used it only 3 times, but there are some signs of wear. Mainly, a scratch on the left side plate (in the pic) and some dings. I intended to use it on the surf, but it never made it to the beach. I practiced distance casting from a bridge, but couldn't tame the beast. I took it on headboat a couple of times since then and that's where it got a scratch and dings. There's absolutely nothing functionally wrong with the reel that I am aware of. I have a smaller Saltiga (SASD15H) that I use on headboats now, so this bigger reel is only collecting dust. I couldn't find the manual, but it comes with a box and whatever you see in the picture. It's spooled with 50lb power pro with 50lb flourocarbon leader. I am selling this at $300 shipped. I accept Venmo, Paypal, Check, or BoA wire. I think the preferred method is Paypal on this forum for buyer/seller protection.
  5. I don’t think it was used more then 2 times (seriously) off the pier years ago. Just collecting dust. $27 shipped.
  6. I am selling my Penn fathom 15 Star Drag. I bought it two weeks ago for drum fishing for the week I was on vacation and have no further use for it. Basically still like new. There is one small scuff/scratch on it from hook touching it but otherwise nice. Did not touch any saltwater (other than line reeled in), fished from pier only, did not fish in surf with it. Will post/send pics if needed. Don't have the box with me as I left it back home, would be willing to mail it later. Asking 150.00 Shipped. Reduced 140.00 Shipped!
  7. So it all started out in December of last year. I was into tog fishing on boats and wanted an Avet SXJ. I wanted the option to be able to use it on the surf and went with the MC option. I got it, but a couple of days later, I saw pre-orders taking place for G2. I returned the G1 and placed an order for G2. Fast forward to May of this year. Avet's manufacturing issues led to delays and I got fed up. I am into surf and pier fishing now and wanted an upgrade. I wanted to cancel order for the Avet and get a surf reel that's boat friendly (instead of a boat reel that's surf friendly). I considered Seigler SM and Daiwa Millionairer Surf Cast Reel M7HTMAG. Then I read a thread about issues with the Seigler SM reel. Ultimately, I went with Saltiga 35. I took a chance, considering there aren't many reviews for the new 2016 model... I was wondering if anyone has it and has been using it on the surf? I opened it up to add the red brakes, but bigger white brakes were already in and I left them in there for now until I get used to the reel and can use less assistance from the centrifugal brakes.
  8. I recall that Penn had made different gear sets for the Torque conventional star drag reels. I don't see them on the current Penn site. Are they still available?
