  2. I’m selling my practically brand new 11 foot St Croix. I only use it a couple of times. Look at the pictures. The rod is just too long for my liking. $300 pick up in Huntington. Interesting trades welcome. I’m not contantly checking my phone so please bear with me if I don’t get back to you immediately . Thank you , have a nice day .
  3. Just kind of testing the waters with this one, I don’t know if anyone would be interested in buying a broken rod. I bought the rod off this site for 240$ in I think 2018 or 2019. It was awesome, probably the most enjoyable rod I ever fished. However I only got to fish it less than half a dozen times because one night I got out on the rocks in the bay and went to cast and the rod just fell apart, no snap, no noise, it didn’t hit into anything. It just fell apart. Nothing out of the ordinary had happened to it while in my posesion. I called st Croix and they said lifetime warranty was good and they would repair or replace for free or sell me the comparable modern rod for 75$. All I had to do was go to ups and I could ship to them for 20$ as they had a deal with ups where at ups stores they will have tubes to ship rod. It has become apparent I will never do this and I will just own a super expensive broken rod lol. St Croix said the warranty is with the rod/serial number not with the person. 150$ obo local pick up only located near lbi in ocean county

    Casting woes

I think I need a lesson in casting with my lightweight outfits, It’s pretty frustrating. I, for the past two years have been fishing a daiwa bg 6k (lures)or a penn fierce 6k (chunking) on my penn prevail 2 piece, with 30lb braid and 50 lb braid respectively. And I feel like I could cast a country mile with relative ease. Fast forward to buying a light weight outfit I use off the boat or back bays daiwa ballistic 4K and a mojo inshore 7’6 mhf and I feel like I’m a child learning all over again. I’m not using heavy plugs or overloading the rod with weight but staying within the rods recommended range . I generally cast 1/4oz jig heads with jerk shads for fluke , maybe swim baits or small storm shad or savage gear sand eels if I think there’s some strippers around and the And the occasional top water think spook jrs. Small sp minnows Ect. But I feel like I’m throwing mortars every other cast. Any advise boys?
  5. Looking for a surf rod recommendation. I want to use it for heavier plugs up to 4 oz, it will not be used all the time, and no bigger than 10ft. Not looking to spend $500.00 as it will not be used alot. Any help would be much appreciated.
  6. Happy Father’s day Looking to buy a St. Croix ultralight rod. SHIPPING ONLY Please post pics, specs and condition Thanks
  7. Hey guys, I've been combing this forum and all over the web to decide on the appropriate rod to bring to mexico this December. Right now, I've got it narrowed it down to the Daiwa Ardito 11 foot or the St. Croix Triumph travel 9 ft. My plan is to use the rod from the Cabos beach to fish for Sierra Mackeral, Jacks...whatever swims. From what I understand, people throw 2-3 oz poppers/lures/ rangers out there. For that purpose, will the 9 ft get the baits out far enough? I just ordered a Daiwa BG5000, which is what I will be pairing the rods with. The thing holding me back from the Ardito is the heft and the small first guide ( which some people say isn't too big a problem). I know there is a 10 Ft St croix triumph, but I don't think I can get my hand on one. Will there be a worthwhile difference in the casting distance between the 9 and 11 ft? Thank you y'all. As someone with barely any surf fishing expereince, this website is a wealth of knowledge, so I appreciate your input!
  8. Hi guys, Long time reader of this forum and the time has come to seek for advice. Don't beat me up right away, since i have already used a search function in order to find the best fishing rod for the Canal. Basically have two questions: 1. I am looking for a spinning rod that could be a good fit for the PENN Slammer 3 6500 High Speed. I am primarily looking for jigging, throwing jerkbaits, maybe even throwing chunks from the surf occasionally, with the least priority given to the topwater lures. Is there any rod that is multifunctional and does everything not perfect, but just good? Anything in 2-8 oz range. 10-12Ft. Budget: $350. I currently use 9ft Star stellar 1-4 oz fast, but this is definitely not enough to make long casts on the Canal. I have stopped my choice on St. Croix Mojo Surf and St. Croix Avid Surf, but i have seen a lot of debates on perfect rod for the Canal and there are a lot of opinions about my choice being not a very reliable one. People seem to give their favor mostly to everything from ODM Jigster, TFO, Star Paraflex, XSRA 1205, Tsunami Airwave Elite to 600$+ custom made poles. But unfortunately, i can not try every single rod and learn from mistakes, especially by spending seasons of trial and error and thousands of dollars). Please advice! 2. I would also love to hear any comments on SLAMMER 3 6500 HIGH SPEED as well, since i haven't seen a soul using it on the Canal. Seems to be a really good reel with an amazing retrieve rate (48 inches per crank!). Which reels are competitors to this one? (besides Saragosa) Thank you very much for any advice in advance, truly appreciate it.

  12. Getting a lot of feedback on one of my previous threads for if you only had one rod to pair with Stella 14000 to use mainly at CCC- what would it be?. I would mainly use it for throwing large plugs, but also want the ability to throw some jigs in the mix and I'm starting to lean towards St. Croix's Legend Surf 11' (LGSS110MHMF2). Anyone have one on here? What's your experience with it? Strengths? Limitations? Is it worth the $$$? I would like to focus only on this model. If you have other suggestions, please go to my other thread. Thanks!
