About Me:

Interests (Hobbies, favorite activities, etc.):

What I do for a living:

Location

  1. St. Croix Legend Elite Musky Rod. Model LEM86MHF. 8' 6" Medium Heavy Power. Fast Action. 30 - 65LB, 3/4 - 3 oz. Mint condition, only fished once or twice in freshwater and has been stored since with the cover on. I have the same rod with same specs in 9 ' length. Will sell that one instead if it interests you more but for now, will only sell one now and keep the other. Local meet in North NJ. $520
  2. For sale - no shipping. Located near Allentown, PA for pick up. Could also possibly meet at CCC over weekend of June 3rd or in NJ after June 10th. New Lamiglas Carbon Surf LCS106MS (10’6” 3/4 - 3). Never fished & has tags. Nice action. Rod is fairly moderate. $165 Used twice St. Croix Mojo MSS110MHMF2 with extra top section (11 rated 3-8, but to me and many others it is more like a 1.25-to-5.5ish). Nicest rod of all Mojo’s, IMHO. $175 Excellent condition Custom RodGeeks SRF106MHMF2 (10’6” rated 2-6, but I think of it more of a 1.25-5ish). I built this rod with neat wraps and a carefully applied coat (not sloppy) of ThreadMaster Lite finish. Fuji reel seat and Fuji SV guides. The blank is a nice metallic black color. $160 New Rainshadow SUR1508F Custom Heaver - Conventional. Serious bait fishermen will be familiar with this blank. Rod has a Fuji reel seat (faced down locking) and Fuji Hardloy guides. Rod was never cast and is in mint condition. $175 New Lamiglas GSB1502MH blank. One of the most famous Hatteras Heavier blanks of all time. This is not the brand new 70/30 design. $175
  3. Has anyone given these new legend tournament inshore rods a workout? I owned 2 of the older ones and found them to be great rods but preferred the IMX pro blues. The new legends seem to be directly targeted at the imx pro blues. St. Croix has a few rods in their lineup that interest me and aren't really available in the loomis/shimano lineup. Would love to hear some input. Thanks in advance.
  4. I guess it's time to unload some of my unused rods. I live in Florida, so I will be listing only the travel rods here. I'm going to try to sell longer rods locally. I estimate shipping to be around $30-$40 dollars (UPS says $42 ground shipping for a random house I picked in San Diego) for a travel rod. Depending on your zip code, I may have some wiggle room on the price. Rod: St. Croix Tidemaster Inshore Travel 7'6" MH I probably fished it 2-3 times. I see something that looks like surface rust on the reel seat. Please take a close look at the pics. Price: $200 I own two Tidemaster Inshore Travel rods (One heavy and one medium heavy). Decided to sell the MH. I'm not interested in trades with this rod.
  5. I currently own the 2021 ODM genesis 9 ft. Its a great rod and I bought it to be my main stick but I'm leaning towards getting the 10ft instead. I still want a 9ft for lighter back bay. Something for throwing no more than 1.5oz. I will likely be throwing 1/2-1oz the majority of the time. I like the idea of a 1 piece but I have never owned casted a GSB. I don't want a true moderate rod like the longer GSBs but I heard the 9ft rods are a bit faster. The new st. croix seage 9ft seems interesting as well. I've always been a fan of their surf rods and customer service. At the end of the day I may just hold onto the ODM 9ft but was wondering if anyone has spent time with the sticks listed above. Thanks in advance.
  6. Anyone try these spinning rods yet? Looks like it has some new technology (sounds similar to what Shimano has done in some of their freshwater lines) as well as a 15 year warranty from St. Croix. I'm not a St. Croix guy but this does seem good for a mid-range surf rod. SEAGE SURF SPINNING RODS - St. Croix Rod (stcroixrods.com)
  7. Selling 4 surf rods that explain the evolution of my surf fishing journey... 1. (First 8 pics) Started out with tossing bait on an Ugly Stik Bigwater 11ft rated for 3-8oz <excellent condition rod> $45 2. (Next 11 pics)Moved to plugging on Penn Prevail 10ft rated for 1-5oz <excellent condition> $50 3. (Next 21 pics) Stepped up to a Mojo Surf 10’6 Medium Power, Moderate Action, rated for 3/4-4oz <excellent condition> $170 4. (Last 14 pics) Inherited a Classic Rod from my uncle, a G Loomis SUR 1266S 10’6 Surf Series rod, rated for 1-5oz <replaced the ugly original wrapping on the handle with rubber shrink tube, overall... the guides, the reel seat, the blank itself, is in very good condition> $180 Now I’m fishing a GSB 108L and don’t really use these rods. I’m a fanatic when it comes to taking care of my tackle. All rods are in excellent condition... I tried to post as many pics as possible. I’m accepting cash for these rods. Local pick (Jones Beach, NY) up only.

  12. Anyone been able to handle these rods yet? $200 rod made in America with 15 year warranty is pretty appealing. Very light weight. Curious about the actions. Looks like handful are available with other released later this year. edit: just noticed entire thread below. Closing now.
  13. Have a bunch of St. Croix inshore rods and like them. The Avid series is my favorite of them, but I haven’t tried any of their surf rods yet. Looking for input from anyone who owns or has used this model. Likes and dislikes? Would you buy it again?

  18. Hi Everyone, I need some help. I recently ordered the St. Croix VIS80MHF Avid Inshore Spinning Rod - 8 ft and I need to find a spinning reel to pair with it. I plan to get more serious about striper/blue fishing in cape cod (Eastham/Welfleet area) and this rod will mainly be used in small rivers/estuaries as well as flats. I have been doing some research and I have heard some good options are the Shimano Saragosa 5/6K, Shimano Stradic FL5000, Shimano Spheros 6K, Shimano Sustain, and the Pen Slammer 4500. I was really leaning towards the Stradic FL5000, but my concern is the weight of reel is too light for the rod (roughly 10 oz). This Avid inshore model that I purchased is about 7.5 oz. Do you think I need to pair this rod with a heavier reel in the 12-16 oz range? If so, do you guys have any other recommendations? Also, I would love to hear from anyone who owns this rod on what your setup looks like.

  24. Hi - I need some help with the details before I purchase: looking for help on power, action, and reel size. My specific questions are at the end: I'm looking at a 7' medium power, fast action St. Croix Avid Inshore rod paired with a Shimano Stradic FL in the 5000 size. I am currently using a 9' medium power, moderate fast action Tica TC2 surf rod (1/2 oz to 3oz) which is a little much for smaller lures and definitely not giving any sensitivity when I am using anything under 1oz. I love casting from the surf but there are so many awesome bays around here. Ultimately I want a 7' inshore, a 9' all-around and an 11' rod for jetties/inlets, big surf. I want something that will excel in bay fishing....looking for something that can provide long casts, sensitive enough to feel bottom with bucktail jigs, can handle stripers and blues (maybe fluke and weakfish, and can be a versatile pole I can have some fun with. I had a couple questions: Does this setup make sense for fishing in the bays around Long Island? Does a medium power, fast action pole make sense (think 3/8 to 3/4 oz lures are ok)? Or would you step up to a medium heavy, fast action (1/2 to 1 & 1/4oz). Or something else? Would you go 4000 or 5000 size for the reel? Tempted to go 5000 which gets me a nicer knob and more line (4000 and 5000 are same physical size I believe) Does 7' rod make sense here or should I go 7'6" or 8'? Also if anyone has any suggestion for quality braid that would make sense for this setup. Thanks everyone. I am new around here and basically a hack, vying for the title of 'worst fisherman on Long Island' so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Attached a pic of my latest striper from earlier this week.
  25. Looking to unload a barely used St Croix Avid Inshore. Never been used in saltwater, only a handful of trips in freshwater throwing keitechs and drop shotting. Would make a great back bay rod throwing weightless plastics or small swimbaits on light jig heads. Model #: VIS76MLF Length: 7’6” Power: Medium Light Action: Fast Line Rating: 6-12 lb Lure Rating: 1/8 - 1/2 oz Rod Weight: 4.5 oz Retail Price: $250 Asking $150, picked up near Egg Harbor Twp, NJ 08234. I may be going up to the Saltwater Expo in Edison on Saturday, March 16th. I can bring the rod with me if you’re interested and will be at the show. Cy **REEL NOT INCLUDED**
