  1. 70/ 30 split model # MSC110MHMF2. 15-30 LB. 3-8 oz. I used it a couple times but preferred spinning reel over conventional. This rod is nearly weightless( real talk) no BS. Im asking $150 picked up on long island. I can send more pics if needed. Thanks for your consideration guys.
  2. Looking to buy a 9ft or 9ft6 st croix avid salmon rod. 1/4-3/4 . Locate Wichita ks
  3. Hello, I’m looking for a couple of quality inshore rods in lightly used condition. First is a 7 ft Medium power spinning rod. 2nd is a 7 ft medium heavy power casting rod. Would be used for back bay fishing from kayak. I’m located just outside Philly in PA. Willing to travel to South Jersey and to shore points south of AC. Or if you could ship that would work. Let me know if you got something that fits the bill. Thanks.
  4. Hi - I need some help with the details before I purchase: looking for help on power, action, and reel size. My specific questions are at the end: I'm looking at a 7' medium power, fast action St. Croix Avid Inshore rod paired with a Shimano Stradic FL in the 5000 size. I am currently using a 9' medium power, moderate fast action Tica TC2 surf rod (1/2 oz to 3oz) which is a little much for smaller lures and definitely not giving any sensitivity when I am using anything under 1oz. I love casting from the surf but there are so many awesome bays around here. Ultimately I want a 7' inshore, a 9' all-around and an 11' rod for jetties/inlets, big surf. I want something that will excel in bay fishing....looking for something that can provide long casts, sensitive enough to feel bottom with bucktail jigs, can handle stripers and blues (maybe fluke and weakfish, and can be a versatile pole I can have some fun with. I had a couple questions: Does this setup make sense for fishing in the bays around Long Island? Does a medium power, fast action pole make sense (think 3/8 to 3/4 oz lures are ok)? Or would you step up to a medium heavy, fast action (1/2 to 1 & 1/4oz). Or something else? Would you go 4000 or 5000 size for the reel? Tempted to go 5000 which gets me a nicer knob and more line (4000 and 5000 are same physical size I believe) Does 7' rod make sense here or should I go 7'6" or 8'? Also if anyone has any suggestion for quality braid that would make sense for this setup. Thanks everyone. I am new around here and basically a hack, vying for the title of 'worst fisherman on Long Island' so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Attached a pic of my latest striper from earlier this week.
  5. WTS st croix avid surf 8’ used only a couple of times i have built a few rods removing this from lineup. $150 pickup near canal or on cape
  6. WTB surf rod, would need to have it shipped (32817). Looking for anything 9' or bigger. Fishing the Florida coast, looking to comfortably cast 3oz sinkers with bait on them. Or something around there, something like a st croix triumph, mojo surf etc. Does not have to be a st croix. Would prefer something around 150$ but budget is flexible. Thanks again.
  7. I think it's finally time to downsize, at least for the time being, and sell some of my seldom used gear. I have a lot of nice stuff that's sitting and collecting dust. I justify holding on to most of it by telling myself I'll find a use for them "next season", and a few seasons later most of it has not left the rod rack. **Prices are for local meet-up (South Jersey near/around 08234), not currently looking to ship at this time.** **Pictures to follow, I'll try to get them up within the next couple of days** NRX Inshore 883S MR (MSRP $665) 7'4" MH Fast, 3/16-3/4 oz lure, 15-40 lb line - $370 - Used, great condition. Original guides, cork shows some wear. I used this rod mostly fluking from shore on the sod banks. Recently picked up 9'6" Dialuna for that application. And the 7'4" rod length is just a tad bit longer than I prefer for the yak. G. Loomis GLX 844C MBR (MSRP $455) 7'0" H Fast, 1/4-1 oz lure, 12-20 lb line - $300 - Brand New, sticker still on cork handle. Versatile freshwater rod, do-all rod for everything in it rated lure range. Would make a great back bay, light tackle fluke jigging rod as well. St Croix Legend Tournament Inshore LTIS70MLF (MSRP $300) 7'0" ML Fast, 1/8-1/2 oz lure, 6-12 lb ine - $200 - Brand New, tags removed. Came on one kayak ride, but never left the crate. This would excel throwing lighter lures in shallower water and can double as a freshwater rod. It overlaps with a couple other rods that I use more frequently so unfortunately it never leaves the house. Dobyns Champion XP DC 685CB (MSRP $230) 6'8" MH ModFast, 1/4-1 oz, 8-17 lb line - $100 - Bought lightly used from a buddy of mine. I was intending to use this for crank baits, top waters, and other moving baits that would benefit from a more moderate taper. I realized I don't utilize those techniques enough to warrant a specific rod for that those applications. Got a good deal on it from him so I'm passing along the savings. Phenix Feather FTX 73XH (MSRP $170) 7'3 XH Extra Fast, 1/2-3 oz, 15-35 lb line - $90 - Like new condition. I bought this a couple seasons ago to fish jigs while pond hopping local freshwater spots. I haven't gone freshwater fishing in a long time. Held on to it thinking maybe I can use it to jig tog, but I've learned that I prefer spinning rods for that application. Researching this rod, the consensus is that it's overrated per Phenix's ratings. 3 oz is very generous for a casting lure weight, and it is more of a "fast" action rod than the listed 'x-fast'. Tsunami Airwave Elite TSAWESS-962M (MSRP $195) 9'6" M, 3/4-3 oz, 15-30 lb line - SOLD to SOL member with WTB thread - This rod is used and is missing about 1" from the tip. I DIYed the tip so it doesn't look the prettiest but it is fully functional.
  8. I'm thinking 9ft to 12 ft should suffice.
  9. Only been fly fishing a couple years now and looking for some Info as far as reputation, value etc on this older combo. Was given to me as a gift and all though older it’s in great shape as it was only used for one trip when originally purchased. The rod is a 2 piece 10/11 weight. Thanks in advance for any info / help!
  10. Great condition 9.8/10 Asking $160 would consider trade+$ for Van Staal reel Pics tell the whole story. (Right one in the last two pics)
  11. WTS 8’ Avid surf rod. I have a 9’ GSB that i prefer over it. Used it twice. It is a nice surf rod. On cape, don’t plan on shipping. Reel is separate, Rod $200
  12. St Croix Legend Surf 10'6" 3/4-4 Custom St Croix Legend Surf 10'6" 3/4-4 - $325.00 (OBO within reason) Shipped via UPSGround, W/PayPal Beautiful custom build by Dream Weaver Custom Rods. First or second generation (St. Croix couldn't confirm as it was purchased when they were phasing out blank sales). Fuji Titanium SiC K guides (9 + tip), laid out for VS150 and premium Fuji reel seat, ti hook-keeper. The build is top quality, the wrap looks great and it only weighs 11.4 oz. Unfortunately, it has my name on it. Name can be removed by original builder for additional $ and with delay in shipping. Price is negotiable within reason. Very smooth casting, it covers it's entire weight range well. I have thrown a bit under and over with success. As the original St Croix decal is on the rod, it is my understanding from a conversation with St. Croix that I had when the rod was built that the blank carries a lifetime warranty. The reel seat is 23-1/2" to butt and stripper guide is 29-3/4" to the center of the reel seat.
  13. Located in the Baltimore area. I can pick up within NoVA, MD, DC area or meet up halfway if it is further out. 17. Hello everyone, I am interested in getting this rod, the St croix legend surf 8 ft seems a nice length for surf fishing. I am wondering which reel with be the a good fit and balance for this rod? And if you have any personal experience using this rod please leave a comment. P.D I was thinking in pairing this rod with a VS100 40lbs braid...
  18. Want to sell my like new St Croix Mojo Jig conventional rod. It is the 6’6” mh rated for 50-100 lb line. Used a couple times and rinsed after each trip. Only thing that’s not like new is the grips might show a little fish stain that would prob come out with some scrubbing. Asking $140 picked up in the central/south Jersey area. Willing to entertain other offers with shipping. Will add pics in a little bit.
  19. Hi everyone im in the market for a saltiga reel and for rods im looking for ODM genesis, ODM frontier, ODM jigster, St croix legends. All rods have to be 10ft or longer please thank you.
  20. Hoping someone can give an exact brand and model to a rod that feels and provides the similar qualities to the St. Croix Legend .75-4oz surf rod Model: LGSS106MM2. I’m assuming I won’t find an exact alternative with such high quality components, but something in the $300 or less area that has the same action and feel ratings. Anybody have a recommendation? Many thanks.
  21. Local pickup in southeastern CT. Will post pics if anyone is interested. St Croix Legend Surf custom built on 9’ ¾-4 blank with kw guides. Good condition, couple scuffs here and there. Relatively long butt (27” to reel stem). Handles it’s entire weight range, a blast to fish with a vs150 and still has enough power for big fish. Built by "ged" on here: $200 Okuma SBX swimbait 7’11” XH 2-10oz casting rod Lightly used, excellent condition. Technically a freshwater swimbait rod but would work great for throwing bigger plugs to bass or dropping jigs, etc. I'd say the rating is a little generous, I didn't cast anything over 6oz. $120 St Croix Avid Musky AM69HF 6’9” 1-5oz casting rod Very stout rod, could handle dropping lead well over 5oz. Some weathering to the cork but otherwise in great shape. $100 St Croix Legend Tournament Bass TBC79HMF casting rod (“flipping”) rated ½-2 but can cast much heavier weights (rating is for suggested flipping weights). Used it for swimbaits up to ~4oz. Excellent condition $200 Dobyns Champion 764C heavy fast ¼-1.5oz casting rod Great shape, some wear and discoloration on cork. $140 St Croix Premier PC66MF 6’6” ¼-3/4oz casting rod Some discoloration on the cork but otherwise great shape. Perfect for fluke jigging with light jigs. $60 St Croix Avid AS50ULF 5’ 1/32-3/16oz ultralight spinning rod Rod is in great condition, just some discoloration on the cork $80
  22. Another rod that will probably spend a lot of time on the rack this season. Picked up used on this forum around this time last year. Used, but in great condition. I have too many similar rods. I’ll post some pictures tomorrow morning. Model #: LTIS76MF Length: 7’6” Power: Medium Action: Fast Line Rating: 8-17 lb Lure Rating: 3/8 - 3/4 oz Rod Weight: 5.5 oz MSRP: $300 Asking $220 local pick up in Egg Harbor Twp, 08234. May be heading to the Saltwater Expo in Edison on the 16th so I can bring the rod with me for those interested up that way. Thanks for looking, Cy
  23. I have a like new condition st croix mojo musky casting rod. It’s been used less than a dozen times over the year and a half I’ve owned it. I’m selling it because it’s too heavy of a rod for my fishing style anymore. Specs are 40-80 lb test, heavy power, 3-8 ounces, 8 feet. Retail is $170 I’ll sell it for $120. Local pickup only. I’m just outside of Philly.
  24. Hey everyone, this is my first post so please don't kill me just yet! I currently fish the nj surf with a St Croix Avid Surf 9'6" 2-6oz. It is an absolutely amazing rod and I love the action, but the other day I took it out to a field to measure my casts, and I was underwhelmed. I always thought that, despite the rod ratings, it threw bucktails and soft plastics pretty far. I never really had an issue not reaching fish and was impressed at how well it threw the lighter jigs. Well on the field, the 1oz & 1.5oz bucktails and plastics only flew around 60yards with no wind. Even mag darters only flew 70ish yards. The 1 ounce metal flew about 90yds, and 2oz flew easily over 100yds. Now I know that these distances arent that bad, but my friend was casting beside me with his st croix legend surf rated 1-4, and the same bucktails and plastics flew an easy 80yds. We both have the same casting technique and we both were using 40lb pp braid. So here is my question: should I sell my avid and upgrade to the 10' 1-4oz version or just suck it up and continue fishing how I have been? and If the answer is to sell and get the lighter rating, what rods rated 1-4oz and around the same price (about $300) would you recommend? Thanks Everyone!
  25. Well the season is over and i would like to part way with my 10’6” 2017 St Croix Legend LGSS106MHMF2. Rod is located in monmouth county nj. Prefer pickup and cash.
