  1. I am a college engineering student so I really like making things rather than spending money on them as money is tight at the moment. i was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to make teasers that go on the popular bucktail rigs when fishing for flounder. I know people make their own bucktails but is there a way to make the teasers that go on the second hook? Thank you all for any ideas.
  2. I have been fishing for fluke but just recent hear about using a bucktail with a teaser. i always just used a sinker and a single hook with the a strip of squid. I am sure there are all different kinds of rigs that people use. Which one do rig do you use? Are there any other kinds of rigs that you think are better than using a bucktail and a teaser?
  3. Hey everyone. I'm new to this site but not to fishing. I'm 18, and I live about 2 hours from the cape(1.5 from the canal). I've been fishing on the cape every year since I was a little kid, now that I can drive on my own I'm looking to start going down with a friend or two. Naturally, I want to start fishing the canal as well and I need advice on a rig. Right now I'm thinking the Penn SSV 6500 paired with the Okuma longitude 10'(not sure how good it is, but it's super cheap). I'm also looking at the Diawa BG 4500 and the Penn Prevail 10' or 11'. I'm looking to make at least 1 trip down a week. I'll be throwing topwaters, sluggos, kastmasters and whatever else you guys recommend. What does everyone else think? Should I pick a better rig, or is mine fine(I'm a little on edge about the rod)? Other advice is also appreciated. Thanks, John
  4. I was wondering if a sabiki rig would catch baitfish from a beach. I cant cast very far, just about 40 yards. would it work?
  5. Hi, I posted a question about which rig to use for Aqueduct fishing earlier, and someone suggested using a popper.Could someone provide a link on a guide? Or if you could explain that would work too. What weight? What line? Etc. Thank you again! Really enjoying the forums.
  6. Hi everyone. I have been fishing since I was a young boy, but my father was always the one to take me. Sadly, he passed away, and I hardly remember his techniques. Now that I am older I have been picking up fishing more often. My favorite spot to fish is the Aqueducts out by Taft. I usually use the fish finder rig (I think) that's the rig where I have a round 1 oz weight, a swivel, and then my leader line right? I use cut sardines as bait, and I cast it out and let it sit. The knot I use is the improved clinch knot. My line I use is a 8lb test but I think it's too weak, since my last attempts at fishing my line has snapped when a fish is on. Is that too weak? Anyway, on to the real question. I have been reading about the Carolina rig. Would anyone recommend that for aqueduct fishing? With that rig, do I have to reel in my line while fishing, or can I let it sit like the fish finder rig? Thanks everyone!

  8. I am not a minimalist. Lots of guys are. Told myself when I purchased my PA that I would add what I needed but would not make it look like a rigged up car from the ghetto. Now, my kayak is looking like something CHEECH would ride. Do you have a kayak that has too much crap on it?
