  1. Hey yall Im planning to get one of these cheap spinning surf rods for casting 3 oz weights. I have multiple other surf rods and need one on a budget. I've narrowed it down to these two as I needed something lightweight, able to cast 3 oz sinkers, and decent quality. I think I'm leaning towards the emcast as it is a rod I've felt before and enjoyed. Furthermore it has more guides which will allow it to cast further. If any of yall have tried these rods please let me know any information you have. Thanks Okuma Rockaway 11' -10.6 oz -6+1 guides -Originally $130 but on sale for $77 Daiwa Emcast 11' -unknown but still extremely light -8 guides -$90
  2. I guess it's time to unload some of my unused rods. I live in Florida, so I will be listing only the travel rods here. I'm going to try to sell longer rods locally. I estimate shipping to be around $30-$40 dollars (UPS says $42 ground shipping for a random house I picked in San Diego) for a travel rod. Depending on your zip code, I may have some wiggle room on the price. Rod: Okuma Nomad Travel Surf Rod (NTS-S-1004H) I own two of these and I'm selling one. No issues with the rod and I probably fished it 4-5 times, couple times in sand. So take a close look at the pics. I didn't see any issues. Price: $120 I'm looking to trade for a light 4k/5k spinning reel to keep as a loaner. I have some trips coming up with buddies and they are flying from different places. I'll probably need to keep a couple spares, LOL.

Rod #1: Okuma Citrix Graphite Travel Rod 7'2" Spinning (CIT-S-724M) Rod #2: Okuma Citrix Graphite Travel Rod 7'2" Casting (CIT-C-724M) I probably fished the spinning rod once. Casting wasn't used at all. I didn't take too many pics, because they were practically in new condition - Spinning rod still has the wrap, LOL. I'm selling as a pair to make it worth the shipping cost. Price: $150 I'm looking to trade with light 4k/5k spinning reel to keep as loaners. 7. I like to do light shoreline whipping "spincasting" using tough bubbles with water, Hammer Bombs, or lead eggs. I'm looking at the new Okuma salt water light rods. Specifically the 10ft 2pc Med 10-20lb 3/4-3oz at 258g. They're inexpensive and the stats fall within my preferred range of length vs casting weights used. At night i use 3/4oz lead eggs with luminescent soft plastic grubs. Daytime it's mostly the same using 1-11/2oz tough bubbles w/water to Hammer Bombs with soft grubs to spoons like Kastmasters & Krocodiles. Would like to hear any feedbacks from others using the 10 footers (ML, M, MH) before i get one. Targeting reef species up to 10lb (Bonefish, Trevally, Ladyfish, Cuda).

Mono Line Cap-8/390 10/320 12/230 I have another one of these an easily got over 200 Yds of Sakuma 18pd on it! Reel also comes with extra non- metal spool! $50 meet up 20miles of 08830. As always thanks to Tim and the SOL community! EA
  9. Hi everybody! I bought an okuma 8k surf over this off season. I currently have it loaded with a whole lot of 20lb mono. I have seen people taking about using alot of 65lb braid and then a topshot of heavy mono. Supposedly it is strong enough to bring in medium sized sharks and heavy rays. Does anyone else agree with that? It's not a metal body reel but it is strong. I just wanna know if it would hold up to some abuse.

  18. Hi. Opinions needed. I just received an Okuma Cedros CSX 11' surf rod from Amazon Warehouse. It was marked as Used - Like New condition. It arrived in a cardboard tube/box and the 2 pieces were loose in there. I examined the blanks and guides and at first I only saw some surface scratches on the epoxy loaded guide foots on one guide. But then I saw that the blue paint was chipped at 2 places on the lower end of the top section (between connection and second guide). Seems like the carbon underneath the paint is OK but I don't know I should keep it. Since I bought from Amazon Warehouse, there is no replacement option. It's either keep it or return it. They offered 10$ promo gift card for a future buy and if I keep it a 20% refund on the price I paid. After the 20%, the price of this rod would be 108$ CAD (around 81$ USD). What do you guys think? Worth keeping it? Apply Epoxy on the chipped areas and give it a go? Not sure if it's still backed by Okuma's Limited Lifetime warranty since I bought if of Amazon Warehouse... Thanks
  19. Local pickup in southeastern CT. Will post pics if anyone is interested. St Croix Legend Surf custom built on 9’ ¾-4 blank with kw guides. Good condition, couple scuffs here and there. Relatively long butt (27” to reel stem). Handles it’s entire weight range, a blast to fish with a vs150 and still has enough power for big fish. Built by "ged" on here: https://www.stripersonline.com/surftalk/topic/578593-wts-custom-9-legend-34-4oz-325/ $200 Okuma SBX swimbait 7’11” XH 2-10oz casting rod Lightly used, excellent condition. Technically a freshwater swimbait rod but would work great for throwing bigger plugs to bass or dropping jigs, etc. I'd say the rating is a little generous, I didn't cast anything over 6oz. $120 St Croix Avid Musky AM69HF 6’9” 1-5oz casting rod Very stout rod, could handle dropping lead well over 5oz. Some weathering to the cork but otherwise in great shape. $100 St Croix Legend Tournament Bass TBC79HMF casting rod (“flipping”) rated ½-2 but can cast much heavier weights (rating is for suggested flipping weights). Used it for swimbaits up to ~4oz. Excellent condition $200 Dobyns Champion 764C heavy fast ¼-1.5oz casting rod Great shape, some wear and discoloration on cork. $140 St Croix Premier PC66MF 6’6” ¼-3/4oz casting rod Some discoloration on the cork but otherwise great shape. Perfect for fluke jigging with light jigs. $60 St Croix Avid AS50ULF 5’ 1/32-3/16oz ultralight spinning rod Rod is in great condition, just some discoloration on the cork $80

  23. This tiny piece , this micro shim, put in the wrong place in the factory, made me search for the cause of rumble and ticking in the reel nr. 3 ( as I marked it ) for weeks. And as I did it with problematic one I also did something with other two, as a colaeral damage, because they were fine. About 20 times I have assembled and reassembled these three othervise magnificent products, Okuma Surf 8K . Here is the picture storie to explain; This is the bushing on which the shim goes micro shim to be precise This is the spot where that shim is needed and is shown on the scheme However, on this particular reel ( nr.3 ) it was on this tiny shafts bushing, and not on the worm shaft. I have noticed that it lacks a shim on the worm shaft and has a shim on the driven gear shaft, but assumed that it is so because it needed that sort of correction, and continued searching for the cause in changing all imaginable places and positions possible. I have even tried to put that shim where it is on the scheme and where it was on the other two reels, but in the proces I have also turned idle gear wrong side in, which will be explained later on. It was done in such way with idle gear because I was searching for the cause.. and as it goes misscounted the steps and count of abreviations so the proper resolution was all but impossible. This is that idle gear in the proper side in position ( the right side turned inwards has 3 dimples in it and ..a perfect round place for the bushing, which it doesn`t need, ( it needs tip of the worm shaft to go first and bushing to "wait" for it on the other side ) but it looks perfect for the clueless fixer upper to conclude the wrong thing and turn it the other way round, which I did, at one point with all 3 of them ), This is the wrong side to be turned inwards, it has 4 dimples and slightly wider groove thru the midle section https://photos.app.goo.gl/KQm4hpJ9iqwLoFfG8 https://photos.app.goo.gl/nyJZBEgGveGdvKox5 https://photos.app.goo.gl/kj1X4iUW5oYxQtxq9 https://photos.app.goo.gl/sVYZuUy8ezxyEy3w9 Avast, with some help from the forces of the universe and continuous repeating of the same thing, for which it is said that defines something, but not smart; "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results." I have found the solution at the day 13-th of october, in the year 2018-th Thx, and watch out, it`s not only "made in china" that we have to be careful abut..
  24. Okuma Nomad 9' Spinning rod - 4 piece travel rod and case. Rod is in excellent condition, rod has served its purpose, and is just collecting dust. Time to let it go, and let someone else get some use out of it. Asking $125 shipped to lower 48 states. ------- SOLD ------- Korkers lace up- XL Brand new, never used, have been sitting in storage. original box is gone, but I will package them up nicely. I special ordered these from Korkers years ago, with the long spikes, these work very well, especially where there is a lot of sea/bubble weed. These are much lighter than the more bulkier wrap around with the strap & buckle. Asking $60 shipped to lower 48 states. Not looking for any trades, Paypal preferred.
  25. Two used large low profiles for sale. First is an Okuma Komodo SS 364. Excellent condition, used primarily in freshwater with swimbaits. Only a couple minor marks on it. Reel is in great shape mechanically but has some boat rash on the body. Very powerful reel, just a little wider than I'd like. Tough to find. Line not included. Asking $160 shipped.
